In that case I can't wait to see it. How are you going to do Metal Gear? You could dress up a Jack Russell in a cardboard box and dub a voice in later... And for the scene with the explosion, it might be easier to lie on the ground first, then jump into the air backwards, landing on your feet near the building, and then simply reverse the footage.
For the city scenes, just stand in front of a massive screen showing those bits of Blade Runner on a loop. It would be nice to have a realistic dead Gibson scene as well, so perhaps you should try and find one of those injured war veterans with a missing head. And for the decapitated head, just apply some clown make-up to a coconut, or something (a brilliant in-joke later on could be when a character says: "No wonder he was killed, he was always clowning about!").
Are you going to be playing numerous characters yourself? I honestly think that could work in your favour.

Metal Gear is going to be a big problem. I really don't want to put a dog or a small child in a costume because you don't have much flexibility in terms of how good they can act. Also, the owner of the dog or the child's parents will probably want them back at a specifit hour, which will dictate our shooting schedule since Metal Gear is in almost every shot. What I was thinking about is I could track down one of those toy R.O.B. robots and paint it blue. You can control those with a remote controller. It won't look much like the original Metal, but it won't specify working hours and it won't crap all over the place.
I'm planning to do a lot of bluescreen in this movie (can't do greenscreen, because a greenscreen program costs money and bluescreen is free...unless I get some sort of sponsor). I could just use the shots from Blade Runner but everyone will yell at me for stealing shots from the movie. When Gillian jumps out of the building, I'll just shoot the actor jumping towards the camera against a bluescreen, and just put any old stock footage of an explosion behind him in post. I'll also use bluesreen for the scenes where I have to show Gillian and Metal walking with a lot of Neo Kobe in view.
Smaller things I could just build sets for. I could get away with shooting scenes that take place in homes at actual homes...I'll ask my friends if they know of a fancy looking house for Gibson's house exterior, and I can just use any old apartment building for apartment hallway scenes when Gillian and Metal are getting ready to go inside. For the interiors I could just use any old interior.
For all of the gore, makeup, makeup, makeup. A coconut? Maybe where you're from (I'm guessing the UK), but I'm going to go for a more realistic look. I could go to a costume shop and easily find a fake decapitiated head, and I could repaint it to make it look somewhat like Gibson, and for his body I could just use a mannequin. For Alice's death, we could find a dog, apply rubber intestines to it, and when it falls asleep, we shoot the scene. For all of the dead snatchers, makeup. And for Chief Cunningham's body, a plastic skeleton covered in raw ground beef.
I might be able to fill a small role but I already have my hands full behind the scenes. I'm writing, directing, producing, editing, and I'm the cameraman. Who knows? Maybe I could be the Neo Kobe Pizza guy. Also, I'm not planning to pull a Peter Sellers or an Alec Guinness, but chances are I may have to end up filling a few roles.

An idea for Freddie's exploding head; just do what they did for Dawn of the Dead (heh, I'm a poet and I wasn't aware of it). I believe they filled a prosthetic head up with pig's blood and fake intestines and all that sort of stuff, and shot it with a real shotgun. Of course, you couldn't really do that with whoever's playing Gillian right next to him! Ha ha ha. You'd need him out of shot, I suppose, with the Freddie mannequin holding a Gillian mannequin.
With the sleeping dog, you'd have the problem of its chest going up and down. An ideal solution would be if you could find a dog that doesn't breathe. Which would probably be a bit difficult. I reckon.
Coconuts don't grow here in the UK, by the way.

Well, I doubt that I'll be experimenting with pig's blood and a shotgun. I am, after all, only 14 years old.
We could easily avoid the problem of a dog's chest moving by simply showing a still picture of the dog as an establishing shot. Then, if we needed the dog and Gillian in shot, we could simply shoot from an angle where you can't see the dog's chest. And then, of course, there's always the possibility of a fake dog.

Sounds like a little bit of a botched job - but as you say, you're only 14 and making it for yourself - so good on you, I can't wait to take a look when its done (if you intend on uploading it), I just can't imagine it being very credible though - making something thats serious and suspenceful as well as humourous is a directing, acting and editing art in itself let alone one being based in a futuristic metropolis with required pyrotechnics, 1000's props and locales, and robitics. Seems rather difficult.
I'm not being pesimistic here - I think its great that you're doing something like this. But if I were you, I do some test screenings. I've studied film and know a thing or two (probably 'just a thing' actually) Why don't you try a scene with just Gillain in a busy neon-lit street talking so someone - or even better the MCD/SCD opening with Jamie and Gillain on the rooftop - just to try out the acting, and blue screen...and gauge how long it will take you. Then you could upload it for some opinions before you take on a project that shall be very time consuming and easy to get wrong (as all films are). How old are your actors by the way?
A jack russel in a box - really 'Rick', you crack me up, but dont take the piss. lol.

Well, I don't think for a second that this movie, if I do it, will take me any less than a year. The cast, the locations, and the (blech) chromakey (also known as greenscreen) will take a lot of time, effort, and probably money. I could do a "test" scene, I suppose....I could just get a couple of my friends to be Gillian and Jamie and shoot them somewhere on a highway overpass and see how long it takes to do it. Now that I think about it, the production of this movie won't be much unlike the movie Tron.
I have no idea how old my actors will be. The older, the better, though I'm afraid that if I get some older ones they won't want to be directed by a teenager. How I'm guessing it'll come out is that I'll just recruit people from my high school to play most of the "younger" roles- Gillian, Jamie, Mika, etc. For the "older" roles, Benson Cunningham, Harry, Elijah Modnar, I'll just find consenting adults. Yeah, that's how I'll do it.

It's done!
The first draft of the script is done! It took me one month exactly and it's done! Read it and please give me suggestions on how to improve it. And please, if you decide to make this script into an actual production, be it a play or movie or radio drama, please give credit to me and all of the people I credited. Same goes if you make your own changes to it. Thanks, and enjoy the script!

Stop attacking me. I wrote about a quarter of the dialogue. The reason you don't notice it is because I rewrote the dialogue similarly to the original. Go back and read the script as you play the game, and you'll see that a moderate chunk of it is written by me. The part where I didn't write as much is Act 3, because there wasn't much to change, but the next time you call me a liar, make sure you've read the entire script.

Not for a while. I'm still in the process of marking up this draft- there's a fair bit of grammatical errors and cheesy dialogue that need to eliminated. A draft or two more, and then I'll start scraping together some people and scout out some filming locations. Since I'm 14, if anybody asks what I need to film there for, I can just say that golden reply: "It's for school."

Big news! Exciting news! Exciting news indeed! I've finished the second draft of the script, after two months of waiting. This was largely a cleanup..I eliminated redundant dialogue, fixed grammar mistakes and added in a few details. As a result, the script is two pages longer. Hope you all enjoy it, and be sure to give me feedback! I'm not sure if I'll ever film this, but if I do, I'll sure appreciate your help.
