TGS 2005 Coverage
There's little things about Kojima Production's showing at TGS being revealed, now. I thought I'd make a topic to cover it all.
First off, on the Japanese Kojima Productions website, this message was posted- "*CONFIDENTIAL*
Mission Objectives
------------------------------
Investigate the weapons and demos on-site.
Remember to bring your PSP
and rendezvous at Tokyo Game Show 2005"
Downloadable trailers? A demo of MGA2? Something even more interesting? I'm interested!
I can't read Japanese, but according to the Japanese Kojima Productions website, it seems a showcase of all the MetalGear games is being shown. This will be called the "METALGEAR SHOW - METALGEAR SAGA". Playable MSX2s might even be at TGS. (This is only assumed by the english words on the site, mind).
GameSpot.com also say that it's been confirmed that the TGS MGS4 footage will be running on the PS3.
Feel free to add to the topic as more is revealed.

How do you expect to learn Japanese, when your English is poor by itself. :pSnake700 wrote:I wish i could be there and i wish i chould Japanise
Anyway, the Kojima Production basically says that their theme for the TGS will be the "Metal Gear Saga", focusing on the history of the Metal Gear series and will include playable builds of the MG1+2 ports included in Subsistence, among other stuff:
1) Actual footage of MGS4 running on the PS3 hardware (not the previous footage with the recycled MGS3 models).
2) A playable build of Subsistence's Online Mode.
3) A previously undisclosed new feature in MGA2, with the keyword being "Solid Eye".

This talk of a "Metal Gear Saga" presentation at TGS, as well as Big Boss' seeming prominence in MGS4 and the rumored "urban warzone" environment makes me suspect that this very well could be the last Metal Gear game-- at least in regards to Kojima's canon. All of this certainly does have the potential to be the climaz of the series, with as many loose ends tied up as is humanly possible.
Anyone else think this is a possibility? Feels like all the big epic storytellers have been ending their sagas lately. I always hoped we'd see Kojima's original two Metal Gear titles from the pre-Solid period get remade and rereleased before he decided to put a cap on his story. All the same, though, I'd much prefer Kojima to finish the MGS cycle himself instead of just handing it off to newer creators, as he's often threatened to do.
Or maybe I'm just being paranoid. Whatever.

I'd actually be quite happy to see MGS4 as the last MetalGear game. There would likely be spinoffs about other characters, remakes or more "Gaiden" games like Ghost Babel and AC!D, but MGS4 should probably be the last "real" MetalGear game.
Kojima should be able to start work on all new games, now. Nothing would excite me more than Kojima closing MG's plot and giving his full attention to a new series.

I believe mos of us feel that way
and also most of us fel that MGS3 could close the series as well.. although it was not possible of course due to many reasons (financial, company, plot, loose ends, etc).
I really hope this s the last Metal Gear, I would be very dissapointed otherwise. When you take a series and go on and on, specially one such a sthis one, it is difficult not to fall an do things that you'd rather not do. I think most of you feel that way too.
We'll see.

I too hope they'll do a proper conclusion to the current series eventually whenever Kojima decides not to direct anyone and then start a new Metal Gear series with another director and presumably another universe too.
At the very least, I hope they don't pull a Resident Evil 4, where at some point they decide to reboot the series without covering all the loose ends. As much as the RE series needed a revamp, I personally think they could've done so without essentially abadoning the storyline of the previous games and moving on to something else.

Yeah but there are still some epic storytellers left like the Final Fantasy saga and XII won´t be the last FF gameSkycladiana wrote:This talk of a "Metal Gear Saga" presentation at TGS, as well as Big Boss' seeming prominence in MGS4 and the rumored "urban warzone" environment makes me suspect that this very well could be the last Metal Gear game-- at least in regards to Kojima's canon. With the small difference that FF is not a saga, but a series of independent games. They don't follow the same storyline.Snake700 wrote:Yeah but there are still some epic storytellers left like the Final Fantasy saga and XII won´t be the last FF game
