Well, there are several things to be considered.
1) the 32 bit versions of Snatcher weren't made by Kojima, they are just ports of the game.
2) The only versions of Snatcher that Kojima worked on are: Snatcher for the PC88, Snatcher for the MSX (which can also could only be considered a port) and PCE CD- ROMantic.
Of course SD-Snatcher is a spin off, but it is a variation of the same theme. The same characters, similar situations, music taken from it fo rthe 16 bit versions of the game. And even it had the ending that the original didn't, parts of which were later incorporated into the CD ROMantic and subsequent versions.
Now, you need to define in what terms you are talking about. he original discussion up there was if Kojima had gone back to Snatcher. Of course he has. It is either he remade just the 16 bit version, or that he revisited the ideas of the game and created SD Snatcher. In either way, SD Snatcher is a very closely related game, created by the same person with the same characters and being fan service in the widest of definitions.
It is not a port, but it is going back over the same theme.

The thing you are not taking into account are the little details. And it is just terminology, isn't it? If by reference you mean "it acknowledges the existance and possible importance of the other one", indeed Snatcher had a reference to Metal Gear. And then, MGS4 has several references to Snatcher. You are trying to make a circular argument with two apparent pieces, but they are at least 3 that follow each other in a timeline (in creation terms).LOVE OF HATE wrote:So is it a direct reference to snatcher anymore, if snatcher was a direct reference to Metal Gear?![]()

He obviously intends to reference Snatcher, but that's all it is, a reference. Like you said, he could've just as easily created an entirely new robot, but this is just his way of paying a little notice to the fans. It's the next best thing to a fully 3D Snatcher (or for those of us who don't want it in 3D, even better).
That would be sweet to have something like that in the new Metal Gear..the storyline might be a little weird to work with though. Like..since Harry originally made MGMKII
and that was taken from the previous Metal Gears..although Otacon seems to have a MGMKII as well. Bah confusing. If they could make some reference to that it might be cool to see it all pieced together. Eh, hopefully Snake isnt somewhere in Europe this time. Considering the Great Catastrophe is taking place..or would it just turn to Snow 9 right about now? Now if Snake can make vid-phone calls to people, I'd like to see that haha. And I wonder if the Frankenstein project is going on around then..well at least Elijah could be doing something..
