I'd love to see a PCE version as well. But as Marc says, we'll go one step at a time and see where we get.
I'd love to see just the original stuff that was changed back in there again. I guess that is about it.

One thing that doesn't include is the porno at Joy Division. I remember when you look at the box, Gillian reads it and he says, "No-holds-barred out-of-this-world girl-on-girl action..." Then when he buys it, the clerk goes, "You like what you see, huh, sir?"

That's awesome! I bet no other game at that time really dared to pull such a feat before did it?

Other than every H-game ever made, yeah.

I just "snatched" a PCE version off ebay ^___^
Very much looking forward to replaying it, especially as the PCE version is said to be the best version of Snatcher.

I can think of some things I would change in a PCE translation right now, like Moonsalt to Moonsault, and Lukas Land to Lucas Land. This wasn't really the translator's fault, though, since they didn't have an explanation to clear up any ambiguities. They're not big issues by any means, but just for completeness sake.

I think so too, though more so if you know Japanese. Hopefully we can get a PCE translation out there at some point.
I was playing through a little of the PCE version today, and I decided I'd use the Sega CD translation as a base, since it's so well done, only changing any parts that needed to be changed. Even if I spent the time doing a new translation, so much of it would end up being the same that it'd just be a waste of time.

I could finally get my hands on the PSX version...well, I don't know what I should say.
I always assumed that all this rant about the music was just exaggerated. I thought people just didn't like it, because they were used to the Sega CD/PC Engine or whatever version music. Since the music quality of the PSX could be way better than that of the Sega CD or PC Engine I never assumed it to be so bad. But...I was wrong. Besides some really ugly character designs (Mika) this version would've been okay, if it wasn't for this boring, monotone, annoying elevator music. Thanks to the music it was just boring to play through, the only thing that kept me motivated was, that I wanted to see, what else they changed. Only to be dissappointed again and again. Well, at least the voice acting was the same.

I got my hands on it recently too (same source maybe?

), and yeah, it's just painful in parts. The art and the music!

Yeah, that elevator music is just brutal. Kojima must've been horrified.

The background artwork was good in most parts, I just didn't like the new character design. But I liked some of the additions, like Randam opening the Trycycle door with his shotgun and some other new animations.
But for the music...I even prefer the PC88/MSX2 version music, because it's mostly the same as in the PC Engine version, only the quality is worse.
And I really liked the darker ending theme of those versions.

I also don't understand why Konami censored the 32-bit versions. You had Policenauts and its similar content released on the PS and SS right around the same time. Maybe it wouldn't have happened if Kojima had been directly involved with them. Maybe it had to do with Sony and Sega (since the Saturn version is less censored). But even if, I still don't get why they'd feel the need to ask them.

Actually, I might say Policenauts is slightly more graphic in certain ways.

Still, I think Snatcher is more violent.

Yeah, Snatcher is more violent, but Policenauts is more graphic. Know what I mean?

Yeah, I understand what you mean by that, I think. An example of what you mean is if you compared Goodfellas (more violent) with The Departed (more graphic) (two Scorsese films), right?

Actually, I think I'd phrase that the other way... at least based on what you've been saying. Violence is the act, kinda the body count. I.E., A lot of people die in Policenauts, it's a very violent game. Whereas graphic is explicitness, the grue of particular scenes. I.E., Alice and Gibson's deaths are graphic. In general censors get more worked up over the later. It's fine to show faceless millions blasted to death, but one person's demise in detail's a no-no.

Yup, compare Manhunt with GTA. They aren't arsed over the body count in GTA, yet go cuckoo over Manhunt for its 'gruesome violence' all I can say to that is, 'meh, I've seen worse'.

I chose the word "graphic" because of the way people are treated in the game; it's disturbing. It's a graphic portrayal. I don't want to talk too much about it, though, since so many people have yet to play it in a language they understand.

Mmm, sounds like the "division" between "good" and "evil".
