If you ask me, the DS has single-handedly brought back the adventure genre from the grave. Whether or not a Snatcher port in feasible, is another matter entirely, but i do think Kojima Productions should make at least one adventure game for the DS.

As long as they didn't use 3D character models, I think a DS remake should, theoretically, work out fine. I'd prefer them to do a new game, though. I don't mind whether that's an addition to a previous series, or a new game entirely.

If it could look something like Phoenix Wright, then yes please! Some art style like that would work perfectly, I think. (Of course, I would like Snatcher on the DS to contain its own art style, but I mean the PW games have very good art, which a future Snatcher game could take a leaf from and adapt that style, if you get my meaning).

Just attempting to edit the Wikipedia entry now (which is in a complete mess of rumours and lies at the moment). Can anyone tell me if everyone in this photo is a member of the Snatchers voice cast?
download.php?id=376
If so, can you romanise the names, and if possible, tell me which characters they are voicing?
That would be a real help, thanks.

The guy in the top middle is Isao Inoguchi, who played Gibson in the Japanese version of Snatcher, but it hasn't been confirmed yet if he'll be playing him in the radio play. No other actors have been confirmed. The other people in the photo are actors in an unrelated project.

Okay, thanks for the help as always, Osiris. I'm sure you'd have much more time on your hands if I just got off my ass and took a course in Japanese.

Double post sorry, but I thought this was worth mentioning.

In the latest Kojima Productions Report, Ryan Payton was challenged to get Kojipro to make a game for hardcore Wii owners. The simile that Ryan instantly brought up was No More Heroes, which was quickly followed by a mention of Goichi Suda. All throughout the show Ryan was working hard to try and announce something "big", after losing a bet on the last show. This may have been an attempt to subtly hint at some Project 'S' software for the Wii and pay off his debt.

I'm reading too deeply into this, but reading too deeply into things is what this topic is all about! :)

Nah, you're more like, hopeful that something will arise. I too hope this indicates further development for Project S, since it's been a long while since we've heard anything. It had to be said, it did seem like a notice of some kind...something to come.

There aren't any translation plans for the radio one are there? That'd be kind of cool, although it would kinda suck without the voice actors.

Osiris said that he'll transcribe and translate it if Kojima Productions don't. They'll probably sort something out for English speakers, though.

Yeah I can't wait to hear something about Project S... they have been way to quite on that front.

I sent mail to KP about Project S...not expecting anything, but I have asked about it, anyhow, just to let them know we do care a lot about it.

I don't think there's much to be said about it just yet. I'd suspect that Suda's probably done a script or two for the radio drama, and they might have arranged a cast for it, but not much else. Certainly not late enough to announce anything. Wait for MGS4, then wait for Project S.

EDIT: I didn't want to make a double post for this no-news quote. This came after a quote where Suda slipped out an announcement of a game with Shinji Mikami and Platinum Games.

GS: Again, it's definitely happening, but I can't say anything more. You'd have to ask Konami about that. I wish I could tell you more. I'm so sorry.
Good to see they're still serious about it. I was getting a little worried since no-one's been willing to say anything about it for such a long time.

There's a new snippet from a Japanese interview with Fumiaki Tanaka (president of Konami) on IGN involving Kojima and Konami's future plans. While nothing is directly announced, there are hints that make me think that Project "S" may be officially announced after the full version of MGO is released, with the Wii and PS3 looking likely to get Project "S" games.
IGN wrote:Speaking with Japan's Nikkei BP website, Konami president Fumiaki Tanaka revealed that Kojima is working on the concept for a new game outside of the Metal Gear universe. Pressed further on this mystery title, or possibly titles, Tanaka said that he couldn't reveal anything at this point and that a formal announcement won't be coming this year. Instead, we can probably look forward to hearing something after Kojima has written the new title's scenario, which won't happen until after MGS4 has been released and Metal Gear Online has been given a major push...

...Outside of Metal Gear, Tanaka shared a few insights into Konami's development plans as a whole. The company will be releasing remakes of more classic titles and tapping into more classic franchises in the future. Although Tanaka wouldn't get into specifics, he did suggest that download services like Wii Ware could play a role in this effort...

...Tanaka made mention of all the major platforms in his discussion with Nikkei, but one in particular got praise: the PS3. In previous interviews, Tanaka has shared his opinion that Sony's online platform for the PS3 fits well with Konami...
Pure speculation again, but I'm reporting absolutely everything that could possibly involve Project "S".

Please note that relates to Konami as a whole, rather than Kojima Productions. Don't expect Policenauts 2 or anything.

Most of the world hasn't even played Policenauts 1, so we're not expecting anything of the sort. :???:

I was referring more to Snatcher, seeing as it's essentially been confirmed.

I'm not sure if that's a positive confirmation or not, but it does seem to be pretty likely. I don't have a wii and I don't plan on getting one anytime soon, so I hope they release it for psp instead, or something like that. Even the ps3 would be a better option for me, because that's probably where I'll end up in the next generation anyway.

Just to refresh memories, here's some of the things that have been confirmed about Project "S"-

Project "S" is in itself, a series of Projects based on Hideo Kojima's 1988 adventure game, Snatcher.
The project involves Hideo Kojima and Goichi Suda
The first project is an online radio drama written by Goichi Suda, focussing on Jean Jack Gibson
Production is set to begin after both No More Heroes and MGS4 are released

These things are (quite) safe to assume-

A project based on an old game, headed by two famous game directors is likely to result in at least one game
Any Project "S" game will be published by Konami (who still own the IP)
Snatcher will be re-released at some point (most likely as an unlockable in a Project "S" game, a downloadable game, a handheld game, or a full remake)

Makes you wonder what they'd do with the game, were it not some sort of direct continuation.

I mean, if they were to do what Policenauts did to SNATCHER, and make a whole new game in its own world (which would be rather disappointing, as SNATCHER did end on a cliffhanger,) what would it be? Perhaps a MGS game where you play as Otacon and do investigations using your computer? That sounds like it might be neat.

What I do hope for most, though, is a game that perhaps completely redoes SNATCHER, going from start to finish, as in, finishing the story, not the finish of the old game, which was not a finish.... :/ (Written stupidly to avoid possible spoilers)

I think that the new SNATCHER would play out well in an investigative FPS, similar to Bioshock.

When it comes to Kojima spin-offs, I don't want to see any minor characters get their own games, really. Kojima always creates a fairly believable world in each of his franchises, and the world often has to deal with some kind of threat. It would be interesting to see unrelated characters dealing with the same issues.

Zone Of the Enders has explored its own universe quite well (through Idolo, Delores and Fist of Mars). It would be interesting to see similar takes on Snatcher, MetalGear and Policenauts (even if the end results are as poor as some of ZOE's spin-offs).

It would be kind of strange to have a snatcher fps, but if were done as well as bioshock was done (more of an rpg than an fps) then that would probably turn out pretty good. I just don't want to end up running around with a chain gun mindlessly killing snatchers. Not many games can pull that off (serious sam 1&2). I think that the world of snatcher hasn't been well enough explored (as you said it ended on a cliffhanger), so I don't think a remake would be sufficient. Now that kojima's done with MGS, it's time to more completely explore another time and universe. Heck, as long as they make the new snatcher game cell-shaded so that it still gives off the same feeling as the original, I'll take pretty much anything.

Just out of curiosity, what would you guys think if the new game was really dark. It would be kinda cool to walk around neo-kobe on the streets with night-life and everything like that, and then having to hunt down a snatcher in the crowd. This would be without cell-shading because it would have a different feel to it.

I would love a dark game, that is as long as they did it good. But one thing I really dont want is...cell shading. I just hate it so much, its looks so bad to me, but seeing how this is gonna be done in collaboration with Suda, it will most likely end up being cell shaded. To be perfectly honest, I really did not like Killer 7 and No More Heroes just looked kind of stupid to me.

A first person shooter wouldnt make any sense either no matter how they did it. FPS's are always based on 3 things ~ Gaphics, Gameplay, and Killing.

I really just want them not to do a game cause it will never be as good as the orginal and in our gaming generation its almost guaranteed to suck. The best thing they could do is something like the animatrix or the new batman anime movie where they give stories to anime directors and let them interpret them in their own style. A series of books and mangas would be awesome to and maybe even a live action movie directed by Ryuhei Kitamura.

All of Suda's 3D games so far have been cel-shaded, but apparently he wants to try new visual styles. Kurayami (his proposed PS3 adaptation of Franz Kafka's "The Castle") is supposed to have a unique oil-painting look to it. Suda is also claiming that he wants to try making a 360 game with a realistic visual style.

Personally, I think Suda does cel-shading well, and completely justified its use in killer7 with some surreal and out-of-this-world environments that may have seemed silly with in a more realistic presentation. No More Heroes only arrives on UK shores tomorrow, so I can't comment about the use of cel-shading in that game yet (hopefully a package will arrive through my door sometime this weekend, though).

I'm sure Suda considers the style of the game before settling on the visuals, though. For semi-psychedelic games like "killer7" and "Flower, Sun & Rain", well-defined artsy visuals work well. Unless he takes a similar creative approach with Project S (possibly with a focus on the human psyche), I wouldn't worry about such bold graphics.
