I don't quite understand why it's cool, but a good example would be the last three episodes of Black Lagoon. About 1/4 of what they say in those episodes is engrish. It's really funny because they don't inflect words correctly at all in that, so it ends up sounding really weird.

It's just the way Japan is. It's like how some people in the West think wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with Chinese characters is cool.

That is still cool, right?

The coolest shirts are the ones that just have random Chinese characters thrown on there that don't mean anything. Or characters that are supposed to mean something cool, but translate to something really lame.

My sister's friend got a tattoo of Chinese character, thinking it meant peace or something cliche like that.

Turns out it said "Grapefruit."

I had a professor in college who knows Japanese, Mandarin and Cantonese. One day he told us a story of a time he went over to these friends' house for dinner and they had a sofa with what they thought were Chinese characters written everywhere. Turns out they were just random scribblings. He never said anything.

Some guy on the SA LP forum is getting a tattoo of "A Light That is Darkness." He had one of our Japanese speakers translate it.

But he's getting it in the fake alphabet they use in Siren 2.

...I should really stop derailing the project status thread.

edit: To be fair, it does look pretty good.

I think its just people wanting want they don't have and the grass being greener on the other side of the fence... hence people are so used to seeing "boring" old english to the point where it doesn't intrigue them, that they want something new a fresh, which is a different culture...in this case Kanji lol.

Hey so gettin back to Policenauts...does anyone know who did the animations and the art work?

Sorry if this is somewhat off-topic, but I have a few questions regarding the PC98 version.

1) How do you delete saved game files?

2) Other than the option to turn off the talking heads, what other unlockables are there?

1) You need to do it manually from Windows or DOS.

2) That's the only one.

Why would you ever want to turn off the talking heads?

Because that gives you subtitles for the voices. Well, it turns all the voices into text, to be more accurate.

One more question I have about the game for now:
Spoiler:
I also watched a video on YouTube from the Saturn version that showed the space shuttle approaching Earth. That shot was seen after the end credits. Did any of the other versions of the game feature something after the end credits?

i've been listening to the Policenauts soundtrack on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p ... 99EF291533 and the music is fantastic!!!! I was wondering who composed it? great work

I believe the Konami Kuhei Club composed it.

BTW, the soundtrack that the user uploaded is from the original PC-9821 soundtrack that was released in March 1995. Of the 4 soundtrack collections that were released for the game, this one is easily the best one to get, IMO.

PC98 version: in-house Konami chaps, all other versions: AIC (Anime International Company http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime_Inte ... al_Company )
Character designs by once-Kojima-favored Tomiharu Kinoshita...

Wasn't Shinkawa the character designer? Or it was just for the mechas?

Hah, whenever people talk about the mechas I always think of this:

The mockup American box cover that looks like it was done by an intern using Paint and Microsoft Word (for the fancy lettering) in about five minutes.

For what it's worth, is that mecha taken from the actual game, or is it just a stock graphic?

Actually, Shinkawa was only the programmer on the PC-98 version, but with the subsequent versions, he became art director.
