releasing only 1 disc would be a bad idea because no matter how much you think konami doesn't care about this fan-translation, you can never ever be 100% certain. the second that first patch is released they may get a bug up their ass and start threatening you. if you only did 1 disc then all of these years of work would be for nothing. if you release patches for both discs and then they try to stop you, all that does is make you stop distributing here while it spreads around the rest of the internet permanently. always prepare for worst case scenario.

As far as I know, the first patch was always intended to be for PSX. They didn't say that they wouldn't move towards the saturn version after this one's complete...
Perhaps you already knew this, but your statement really sounded like they gave up on sat, man!
(If I'm the only one who interpreted it this way, it may be because english is not my main language. Ok Shhhh

I know it's frustrating, and even frequent updates don't quite help without knowing where the end goal is. If we do get a clearer view of it, we'll post about it.
I don't think there's any use for a percentage. Any time you can hit a stupid bug and it won't matter if it's 99% done.
Also, you are being very open about all the developments you do and walls you hit... Percetages are more for people who don't care about the details and just want to see some progress. Er... I think.
Well, but if it makes you feel better, percentage it out

.

I learned a lot about Policenauts today...
...and most importantly about myself.
Okay, but seriously, Scarboy and I just fixed a major bug which I'd originally thought was gonna take awhile. Took us one day. God, I love the Ruby scripting language. At any rate, there's only one bug left and I'm calling Disc 1 at Alpha. That bug is... *drum roll*: One fucking word!
Yeah, for whatever reason, the "Impressive!" when Dave does the training computer is still in Japanese and I don't know why because I managed to patch someone else's and confirmed it was in English. You'd think it'd follow the exact same format, wouldn't you? That if I could patch one, I could easily patch the other?
Yeah, I'd think so too, and that's what I'm currently looking at - why his is seemingly different from anything else.

You're damn right. 743 points is awesome. (That was already English.)

just to be sure, do you plan to test alpha disc-1 also on a modded PSP?
My PSP is ready to be hacked and the main reason is your patch!

slowbeef is right. We wouldn't release one without the other.

It'll be tested on every possible hardware configuration.

You know, perhaps it could be a good idea to prepare for a best case scenario too. I mean, this patch obviously required a lot of efforts. Have you ever thought to have someone fluent in Japanese to write a letter or contact Kojima Production about it, explaining the situation ? They may adopt your work as official and release it on psn worldwide... Ok, maybe I'm being too optimistic, still it wouldn't hurt would it? I know that Kojima was enthusiast about some MG-related fanworks, such as lego metal gear creations...

No sleep tonight until we hit Alpha Disc 1. We're almost there... maybe another hour or two.

I envy the alpha testers who'll get to play Policenauts in English (tonight?). Have fun (and remember to submit coherent bug reports).

I sort of do too. While it is amazing that they get the first taste of it, they'll also have to replay lots of segments as the game falls apart before them.
C'mon, this is an alpha build.

Hey, I fixed my only critical bug on Disc 2! Not bad!
So... no known bugs on Disc 2 so far, but I'm only up to Act 5. Everybody cross your fingers for the next few days.

Great news! I've been keeping an eye on the progress being made, and I simply can't wait. Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication to this project. I played through Snatcher for the first time around six months ago and fell in love with the game. I just finished my third play-through yesterday, and I've been wanting to play Policenauts because it seems to be the closest thing to another Snatcher game. Again, many thanks for your hard work!
