Aye, I see what you mean. That poll did get me thinking, since they're not the type to do things like that. They should have completely wiped off everything Metal Gear and just had ZOE, Policenauts and Snatcher on there, and see which gets on top. But yeah, they must be considering Snatcher, at least. And Kojima saying 'it won't make any money, but it's something I've wanted to do for ten years now' rings all too true actually...good points.

Besides, Snatcher leaves itself as open ended as MGS1 did as well; heading the the Snatcher HQ.

A Snatcher sequel seems to have been a long time coming. I felt quite disappointed that it never recieved a sequel, when I first saw the ending. It's something I'd be very excited about, and I'll be very satisfied if Kojima uses the collaboration to work on it.

The only way we'll know for sure is when they actually tell us what it is.

I'm hoping that'll be April 14th, but I doubt it.

Oh, and I found my original post about the Kojima/Suda Snatcher continuation.

I'm unsure that Shinji Mikami will be involved with this (unless it's supposed to be a killer7-style game).
kotaku wrote:With the recent turmoil at Capcom over the whole Clover fiasco and the formation of Seeds, I figure I'll ask if we can expect/hope for another collaboration with Shinji Mikami. CVG are really crap! This is how they advertised their new interview with "Koichi" Suda-
CVG wrote: Grasshopper main man Koichi 'Suda 51' Suda talks to CVG about No More Heroes on Wii and his secretive collaboration with Metal Gear mastermind Hideo Kojima.
This is all that was said about Project 'S' in the interview-
CVG wrote:You're working with Hideo Kojima on Project S. As two of Japan's most prominent game directors, where do you feel your approach to game design differs from that of Kojima?

Suda 51:
Kojima is well known throughout the world as a Director and he receives high evaluation marks. I can't compare me with him because his existence is both close to me and far from me.
Crap interview!

CVG have always been shite. I hate them, they always lie or hype stuff up and end up showing practically nothing.

prequel

I'm a japanese "Kojimania" that is enthusiastic (or maniac)-fan of Hideo kojima's game.
I'm not good at English, and sorry of my clumsy words and sentences.

I didn't join this event.
I heard this news from my friends.

In Apr 14, at the stage of "Snake vs Zombie",

http://www.grasshopper.co.jp/hoppers/

Kojima and Suda said "Project S" is about Snatcher work.

It's web-radio-drama,(So It will be broadcated by japanese audio only....)
maybe Snatcher prequel.
Before Gillian came to Neo-Kobe,
The protagonist is Jean Jack Gibson.

Suda Gohichi will write the script, status is first-draft.

That's quite awesome.
Spoiler:
I wonder if it will be about the Snatcher scare that lead to Alice's death or if it'll be something totally different.
Thanks for the info! :D

To be honest, I'm a little disappointed. Judging by Kojima's comments to Edge, Project 'S' was originally planned to be a game, rather than a radio drama, but they didn't think it would sell. Unless someone translates it, I doubt I'll be able to appreciate much from the project.

Maybe the constant badgering from American press will make them consider releasing it in English in some form? I'm still hoping that they'll make a game of it, sometime.

Huh? Wasn't Project S supposed to be a game for the Wii?

Judging from early comments it was, but Kojima recently told EDGE magazine that they didn't think a text-based adventure would sell to the current gaming market, so they must have reconsidered it.

Well that's upsetting. So much for 'creativity' from Kojima Productions, all they do now is whore out MG with Big Boss games, to sell of course, even though they state on their website that is not their aim, oh well. :???:

Maybe someone will... Shite, this is gonna be cool. I can't wait to hear this. Gibson's life as a JUNKER!

Nice to see you here, Itoh-san! Jouhou arigatougozaimasu.

By the way, C&VG used to be a great mag until its publisher decided to screw with its format (to sell more issues) and killed it.

Mikami's first encounter with Kojima's work was Metal Gear Solid however, he personally likes Snatcher more. Kojima and Suda 51 both reacts, "Ah yes, Snatcher" alluding to something. "Oh should we announce it here?" "Maybe later during Hidechan Radio?"

Okay, now I'm confuzzled, is it a game still or not (a radio drama)? I guess we'll soon find out the facts.

The Hidechan show was recorded at that location immediately following that talk (as it says in the 1UP story). That's where Itoh's friend heard the announcement.

Ah right, I see. Perhaps they are attempting to regain lost interest in Snatcher? It would be good at least to show that Kojima made some other games aside from the MGS series. :???:

(note- this post contains unrealistic optomism)

I've been talking to a friend who's also a Snatcher fan, and we've been wondering if anyone's actually said that this is Project 'S', yet? The suggestion that the controversial adventure idea was replaced with a cheaper radio series seems likely, but it's possible that this might simply be a way to get more interest in the series, and see if there's any enthusiasm in a new game in the series.

It seems odd that Kojima and Suda were planning to make a new Snatcher game based on Gibson, rather than a sequel or a remake. If this radio drama is Project 'S', that's the situation that we're looking at. I think that Gibson's story seems very much like a backstory that needed to be fleshed out, rather than an interesting idea for a new Snatcher game.

I'd still like to think that Project 'S' is either a Snatcher remake or sequel, and this Radio Drama is simply a way to get the audience ready for the new game.

It is great to see Project-Itoh around here, どうもありがとうございます!

Now, regarding the project, I believe it will be interesting. I also believe that it is the only time frame that is worth exploring, since we already know that a sequel has very thin ground to support a game as we expect (We already know who was behind it, etc.. only if it were to be action based, which I hope nobody hopes for).

The time frame selected for this Radio Drama is perfect in several ways, and it would focus on the paranoia aspect and eliminating Snatchers, since we already know what is going to happen when Gillian arrives. Also, having it end where Snatcher begins would bring tears of joy to my eyes.

It is great to have Suda write the stuff, and Kojima involved. But I cannot help to feel a bit uncomfortable about what it will be like, since I had more or less made my peace with the game being left alone. I can't wait to hear the results though.

Well, a good reason to retake those Japanese lessons =)

The radio drama is a dying art in many countries, but I still enjoy them very much. The MGS and Idea Spy dramas were very well done, so I'm looking forward to this one. Maybe we can host a translation here at Junker.

I always thought Gibson was a character worth exploring more, and now we finally get to hear Little John speak. Only thing is, Gibson is said to be a quiet guy, and Little John too, to match his personality.

Although I agree that a Snatcher sequel wouldn't answer many questions from the first game (as there aren't many), the Radio Drama seems perfect to add to plot, so a second Snatcher game has more to base itself on.
Spoiler:
In the end of Snatcher, Gillian plans to wipe out the Snatchers from the source. I think if Kojima transferred over his ideas about giving something to a new generation from MGS, he could bring up some really interesting dilemmas in this. Gillian isn't simply planning to wipe out a "species", he's also planning to kill his 'children'. It brings up some interesting ideas of finding a species' right to exist over others. Maybe I'm just thinking this because I watched Nausicaa last night?
I don't think I'm quite so interested in a new Snatcher game than I am of Kojima and Suda both working on the same game. If they don't make use of the collaboration to make a game, I'll be quite disappointed. I feel that there are very few people I would like to work on a new Snatcher, but a Kojima/Suda collaboration is at the top of the list.

Yeah, what is Kojima's role in this Radio Drama, if Suda is actually writing it all? It's not much of a collaboration, by the sounds of things, just a chance for Suda to express his fanboyism. No offence.

I think Suda and Kojima decide what will happen together, then Suda writes the scripts, and Kojima checks if he likes them. If he does, they give it to the actors, it gets recorded, edited, and put on air.

That's my understanding of it, anyway.

Kojima will definitely supervise the voice-over sessions too. He always does that.
