Yeah, any DS will do. As for flash carts, I recommend an R4 Revolution, simply because that's what I have and it works fine.

I've just ordered a R4 cart with a 1GB MicroSD card. I'm looking forward to playing this, and several games I've been too cheap/much of a pussy to buy. "Hana to Taiyou to Ame to" (Flower, Sun & Rain) is being downloaded as I type this message.
EDIT - It arrived today. The demo is great, and I'd love to see it made into a full-length game. It's surprising how well the new lines fit in with the Mega CD script.

Dammit! I wanna get a DS flash card now! God knows when I actually will though, since I always get too preoccupied with other stuff I want.

I got mine with a 1GB Micro SD from an Amazon marketplace seller for around £30. It's a great thing, and it's made me realise just how many fantastic games there are that I never bothered buying. The screen resolution makes homebrew less useful than on a GP2X or PSP, but if you don't have either of those systems, it's a fantastic benefit to the purchase.

For R4 to work, I wouldn't need anything else, except an memory card and the R4 cart right?
I'm thinking of buying this from their website, I don't want to use flash me, and I heard that the R4 actually tricks the DS into thinking that it's a DS game (other carts use firmware loopholes I believe). Anyway, I just wanted to know if I needed to order anything else besides the mem card and the cart to get homebrew to work. Thanks in advance for the help.

You'll need the firmware that can be downloaded from R4's website (just a set of files that need to be put on the Micro SD's root directory). Everything else should be included in the package. It's really very easy.

I'm currently ordering an N5 cart, but I was curious whether this was a port for the Sega CD game, or the MSX game (fan translation)?
