I'm guessing that just means "E""3" will showcase either "S"natcher or MGS"5". Pretty obvious.
Until then.
You forgot the "e".
Isn't it an "@"?
"5/S @ E3"

I'd love for this to be an entirely new project and for Kojima to have been screwing with the fans all along. Metal Gear finally laid to rest for a while. Snatcher left well alone (although I can't help but wonder what KP would do with a new game). No continuity messed with. No more pointless sequels. Just a new IP, with fantastic reception and a new sense of excitement for something original like I got with MGS1. Something original. It would be beautiful. One can only dream. *sigh*
It's probably another Metal Gear, isn't it?

I fear most likely.
Regarding a sequel to Snatcher, me and
Dick Motorman were discussing suggestions of how a sequel could be.
As you all know, Snatcher was inspired by Blade Runner, my suggestion for Snatcher 2 would be John Carpenter's The Thing.
The game would take place when Gillian and the special forces have arrived in Moscow and have set up a base camp while they are looking for the Snatcher factory, as the game progresses the player/Gillian starts to suspect that not all members of the special forces expedition are still humans, them being slowly replaced by Snatchers.
Now while you look for the factory you must keep the expedition together and locate the Snatchers that have infiltrated your ranks.

the thing that scares me about the prospect of a new snatcher is the very large possibility of Kojima fucking that franchise up too.

I guess you are not happy how Metal Gear turned out either huh?
I really wish some of his people would be working on Boktai 4, I really want a sequel to that series.

I guess the question is, are original titles still profitable seeing as how popular sequels and remakes are.

look at movies, no one makes original movies anymore, its all sequals and remakes, it's no different than games. With sequals and remakes is basically guaranteed money.

From what you showed me Dick Motorman it will most likely will turn out to be MGS5.
If that is the case, I wonder why I still bother following the news on Kojima's new game.

Yeah, and that is sad.
I´d like to see more indie games, or even Dev´s who are starting to make something on their own.
Something like Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead for videogames
Thanks for posting those pics

I think thats a great Idea!!
You guys (all the people with fine ideas) should write that down, and create something with it, if it turns out the new IP/GAME is something else.
I don´t want a new MGS

I want a weather game!!

I think this probably is going to be a new Metal Gear but I also have the idea Kojima is going to do something crazy with it again, like MGS2. I have the idea he is getting a bit tired of fans demanding a new Metal Gear so he probably wants to screw with them again.

And it will sell a lot. Even if just for saying it's a bad game, people will buy and play it. So there is no reason not to do a MGS5. It's profitable.

I do get that, but it has reached a point that it no longer has any meaning.
It is difficult to describe but if you make games with a story there must also be any reason behind them, Kojima always wanted to tell a story in his games thought at some point he became preachy, and people expect his games to be like that every time.
Sorry to say it so crude but I can understand why he at some point might say "Fuck you!" to all the fans who expect yet more Metal Gear.
When a series runs so long the producer/writer can either decide to quit being a part of the development team, or simply accept that his creation has pretty much lost all the meaning he once put in it, and keep making sequel after sequel until the selling rate finally goes down.

kojima lived 10 years just converting policenauts

he does not want to tell stories, he is a frustrated cineast. he wants to make a movie. or do pretty things like that crazy idea about flowers growing in the scenary.
story is just an excuse in games, story in all kojima games is absurd. it is an excuse to show cutscenes with lots of camera work, music and to show off his directing or cinematic hability, or at least the hability he thinks he has.
mgs could be really cool games if he could just make 50% more playable scenes.

To this day I still consider Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake as one of the better examples of good balance between gameplay and cinematics, how simple it may have been at the time.
It would be nice of Kojima embraced gameplay again.

And yet, I think that purely cinematic games are his forte.. just like Policenauts and Snatcher. Metal Gear Solid, as you say, was an excuse to include gameplay in a cinematic game.. but people took it as an action game. Think about it, Metal Gear Solid 1 is more than 50% cinematic.
I think that Kojima can't go back to purely cinematic though, and that is his problem.

now when faced with the decision to cut gameplay or cutscenes, he will cut gameplay to insert extra cooking egg scenes.
after the boss fight in act 3 from mgs4 there was an obvious part in wich gameplay would fit, could be snake walking with eva through the sewers to reflect the ending stage of mgs3 when naked snake walked with her through the jungle. but kojima cuts from the cutscene where they depart to another when with 30 minutes of liquid shooting things. and after that there's another long mission briefing.
policenauts and snatcher are different games, they are adventures, not action games. and there is a lot of gameplay (adventure gameplay) in the game, it's not just click here to proceed or click here to see more cutscenes. although in snatcher's act 3 he started doing his thing: act 3 is very rushed and with lots of non interactive stuff.
there is a difference between a cinematic game and a non interactive game. shadow of the colossus is very interactive and very cinematic.
and nothing wrong with doing over the top long cut scenes like in mgs 4, you just need to put in at least twice the gameplay time that is there. extended the gameplay. kojima has lost the proportion between gameplay and cutscenes, wich was present in snatcher, policenauts and metal gear 1 and 2.
he has cool gameplay ideias, but shows them off very fast and stops everything just to show more cutscenes.
kojima became a farce

I'd hate to see a MGS5.....it's FAR TOO SOON! And beyond that WHY??????? It's over...lay it to rest!
But of course once you make something that's a million dollar sucess the companies kinda force you to keep doing more until you run it into the ground, So i wouldn't doubt it's MGS5. Especially since there was teasers involving Raiden and a NEW MGS game presented by Kojima recently.
I'd like to think Kojima is making the sequel to Snatcher, or something with it. Eventhough I'd hate to see him botch it up....
I'd like to see the story resovled where gillian destroys the snatcher factory in moscow, but another part of me doesn't want that to be donel....so that we can just wonder what if?
I'd like to really see some new IP's from Kojima though! that's really what I want,
But I guess he's narrowed it down with the "S" or "5" in the teaser? Unless he's fucking with us?
I guess all we can do is wait, and prey Kojima doesn't fuck up either franchise into the dirt!

In this
French article, the author explains that 25 years equals a generation.
So, approx. every 25 years, Hollywood starts remaking the films it produced earlier.
There have always been remakes. It's just that, this time, we resent them, because we were part of the generation who has watched the original films.
A long time ago, Hollywood could only adapt novels, short stories and plays (i.e. Blade Runner

). Now they just have the powerful-enough technology to adapt from other art forms : video games and anime. There's no difference.

Frankly, I'd like Kojima not to do a new Snatcher. There is just no point.
All the story has been told in the original game.
I guess Policenauts is also a self-contained story with no open ending.
Moreover, when you think about it, Z.O.E. 2 is a perfect conclusion (all the intrigues have been resolved at the end).
The Terminator franchise suffers from it. It should have ended with T2. Too bad Cameron didn't shoot the extended future war sequences, in order for people to stop expecting sequels.
