You don't intend to have people do beta's for it on the psp version
do you? Because people use different firmwares, psp's, and different
eboot.pbp writers. So people get different results on games working
and not working....
4, 3, 2, 1, beta (however long that lasts), then release. As for PSPs, if we discover a problem then we'll be sure to let people know that they should avoid that setup (assuming we can't fix it on our end).

It wouldn't harm you to put up some sort of donation pot somewhere for all this hard work, I'm sure a lot of people here feel indebted to you guys, I know I do.
The Prince II wrote:I'd definately donate. My stupid posts aside, this is actually what I feel like. The best part is though for the first time in years....IT'S NOT A METAL GEAR.

Plus as an added bonus, it's Kojima's early work aka his best work.
We will never waiver from our decision to not accept monetary compensation ourselves. However, and I suppose this is the best time to announce this, in keeping with the... um, spirit of the game (it's what Jonathan would want, really), people who want to donate money should do so to the breast cancer charity of their choice. We'll be sure to put this information in a prominent place when the patch is released. Then people can post the information on their website or forum signature... wherever.

My proverbial hat is off to you guys! This project would present a means for you all to cash in and make a few bucks for yourselves and theres no doubt that YOU deserve it but in spite of all the hard work and tireless effort you have chosen to put the fans 1st, have given us precedence over any monetary gain not many would do the same. We all appreciate and respect the job you guys have done so far and I personally would be more than happy to donate to a charity of your choosing.

Yeah, I didn't get much further than the prologue before I realized that, even if i beat this game,

...Shining Force III scenario 2 and 3 are pretty good games being translated right now but that project seems to really get bogged down a lot.
You're smart -- I played Policenauts in 2007 or something, right before whenever it was that the guys here had a big breakthrough on the project. It was just a walkthrough though, so even though I know WHAT happens, visually, for the most part I have no idea what the nuts n bolts of the story are. I wish I could have the Snatcher feeling of everything being new and awesome, but oh well.

On another note, I'm waiting for the SFIII scenarios to get done too. I can't figure out what's up w/ the project, since it seems you can DL a patch for part II, but it's incomplete or something ... I dunno.

Glad you reminded me about Mother 3 -- I need to play that.

(But I think that's as low as the number's going tonight.)

Can we know what the bugs are?

Sure.

Opening Credits -> English
End Credits buggy in emulation.

And the ending credits are the ones that have been bothering you for a long time right?

I constantly watch the intro over and over again...that's sad lol

Are the end credits important in the same way MGS's credits were... or is mostly for completeness?

How did you end up handling the quit/game over screen?

End credits have been bothering us for awhile, and yes, while not for exactly the same reasons as MGS, you're on the right track.

After this is all said, and done, I'm planning on doing a document that explains all the challenges we faced and how we did it from a technical aspect. Tomato did something similar for Mother 3, though I'm not sure if he finished it or not. (He probably did, I just never thought to check.)

maybe this has been answered already, but i swear i've read all the pages up to this point (from ~64 anyway) so i've probably just forgotten and i hope you'll forgive me. i was wondering, IF (had to make big) no bugs arise in beta then how long before you will declare it stable/final? "Two weeks" or w/e after the last bug is found or two weeks after the last bug is squashed and the new code distributed for testing?

and thank you again to the whole team for your diligence on this awesome project!

Well, no one can say really how long beta will be. We'll probably keep you guys abreast, like "beta is going well" or "beta turned up two bugs so far" etc.

I think hitting beta is a reason to be excited but it really could be any amount of time. It's my first ROMhack project, so I honestly haven't any great idea what to tell you as far as a time frame.

A "Director's Commentary" on the Translation of Policenauts would be awesome, some video gameplay sessions with audio comments from the crew in Youtube = hell yeah.

Wow indeed.

Anyway, I'm constantly keeping track of this topic and as far I can see everything is going great. Good luck with the remaining two bugs and beta testing. I can't wait to finally being able to play this game! (even though it's is probably going to be finished just before my final exams, which is some pretty bad timing for me)

Wow, I'm amazed by the amount of progress that has been made this week! Truly outstanding, and every development brings us closer to the big finale.

I personally believe that Beta should be a significant event in and of itself. Therefore, even if it takes a while, we know that we're past some of the largest portions of the entire process. No more waiting for the translation, no more waiting for the proper talent to provide their services, no more waiting through the English-injection issues, no more waiting through the silence, and no more waiting for bugs to be "crushed." I don't care if Beta lasts the rest of the year, it's still the closest we've ever been to an English Policenauts. It still amazes me how far we've come, and what we'll end up with at the end of it all.

I say, just keep up the excellent work; Continue as if we're not pestering everyone for more progress. Take your time and be proud of what you're providing this overly-devoted community. :D

Now that I think about it, as much as I love pSX for its more authentic approach to emulation, ePSXe has mouse support. I suppose, if I went through Clock Tower on pSX, I can do Policenauts. (Speaking of which, I think you all need to play the original Super Famicom Clock Tower; It's brilliant.)
