I don't have the NECCD.SYS and about config.sys...well, it's completly empty.

Are you sure, how the hell could you run the game then, without a sounddriver and a CDdriver? I'm very interested where you get your copy and what kind of files it all contains. Could you give me a list of that?
Charlie Johnson wrote:And do I have to put the NECCD.SYS file in a specific folder?
Forget it, I'll send you a PM with a link where you can download a floppydiskimage for T98-next.
Charlie Johnson wrote:Actually no, to tell the truth I had to do a little research about it, after you mentioned it. I didn't need to do any of this while running Anex86.
You make me more curious. I really would like to know the contents of your copy of the game.
Charlie Johnson wrote:Well, actually, I downloaded it. But since other users on that forum didn't seem to have any problems, I figured the CD image was okay.
Could you give me the address of that forum?
Charlie Johnson wrote:Also, the PCM audio is a little delayed, I noticed this especially during the shooting sequence in the prologue. Maybe that has something to do with the missing lip synch. Any option in Anex86 that will help to solve this problem?
About the lip sync, I think you really need AVSDRV.SYS version 3.10 for that. But if you use that version you get stammer sounds in both emulators, so I think this problem could only be solved when a better PC9821 emulator is going to be developed.

Charlie Johnson wrote:That's a little strange though, in Snatcher the talking heads were always there when characters were talking, why not here? Especially when Ed is speaking, you can see his talking head, but when Jonathan is speaking you see nothing of him. The use of talking heads seems very inconsistent.
I think Kojima maybe felt they didn't need to be there all the time like in Snatcher, so he changed them a little. For a start, you don't see them when Jonathan isn't with Ed (beginning and end of the game). Also, if you can see the character in the game screen, they don't have a talking head. I certainly like the way they aren't constricted to the black area at the bottom of the screen (they overlap slightly with the game screen, and sometimes they're at the top), and there are a lot more portraits than in Snatcher. Kojima said they took them out of the console versions so they could put subtitles in the game, as Japanese people often rely on subtitles to understand borrowed words (and there are many of these in Policenauts).

After my initial shock I was finally able to finish the PC98 version.
So far the only problems I had with emulation are the missing CD sound, almost no lip movement, (Sometimes they move a little bit, after a character finished speaking.) and the sound is a little delayed, but only about 1 second, so it's not such a big deal.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm not good at putting spoiler tags on these boards.

I did put it in a spoiler tag for a reason you know. I'd edit the post and do the same if I were you.

Sweet! Too bad it's so expensive, though.
Anyways, I decided not to go through the nightmare of getting the original Policenauts emulated after all, and just get the real thing instead, even though it won't be easy.

Expensive:? You're kidding. Nobody has placed a bid. You only have to pay the shipping costs. I'm seriously thinking about it. I don't need the monitor as I already have a Microvitec CRT which can go down till 15kHz.

It's not really a nightmare but it's far from perfect, but playable.
