Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, these are so fine games.
gave me a hard time though. I really do believe that modern games are so simple, mostly because I just have a hard time with old games. These games were hard, intelligent and demanding!!! But more when you finished them!!!
I have to do, they are playing "Plan 9 from outer Space" now in German TV
Isnt this movie also mentioned in MGS 3?
Watching it for the first time now!!
Cya and looking forward to your new Post regarding MG!!

Anyway i completed PO+ yesterday. (You get the credits after completing easy, normal and hard) took me like 30min on normal and 40 on hard... short game...
Anyway i unlocked Extreme, but i think i head straight to Metal Gear instead.

It's the second part of the post you read on my blog mate. It's taken me ages because I'm trying to document as much as I can of the whole marathon.

Glad you got through PO+ is there any difference between PO & PO+?

PO+ is just small (VERY SHORT) "missions". Normal is split up in ten missions. usually you just run around looking for the exit to advance inte the game. The main game sucks.
But i think there is like boss survival and things.

Wooohoo! Just completed Metal Gear - PS2 Subsistance edition. What a cool game! I wish I'd played that when I was younger, I would have loved it! I remember playing Turtles on my friends NES for hours on end, if he'd had Metal Gear I'd have probably overlooked it and just gone to Turtles as I was so into them at the time, but Metal Gear is just awesome!

I think I appreciate it more now than what I would have then anyway!

I'm gonna have a read of this http://wiki.junkerhq.net/index.php?titl ... wer_Novel) over the next few days to see if the story translates well into novel form, but somehow I doubt they'll pick up on it. They're calling Solid Snake "Justin" for some reason! lol.

Anyway, I'll give you a verdict soon on the novel and I'm still in the process of writing up a massive report on MGS3, then I'll crack on with blog posts for MGS:PO and MG. Wow, I got a lot to do, but this is starting to become a LOT of fun. Anyone that tries it/has tried it will know excatly what I mean. It's like watching an amazing saga unfold into one of the greatest video game stories ever told!

Bring on MG2!

I need to speed this up a bit. I need to finnish the marathon before i join the marines in january. And i want to sell my PS3 before that. Plus that i have to play Little Big Planet, Silent Hill Crap and Mirrors Edge (+ Bioshock, and Assasins Creed). I need time!

Wow you got a lot on mate! Well you're doing incredibly well seen as at the beginning you were gonna leave PO, MG and MG2! lol. Good on you for the effort I say!

I'm loving the whole experience at the moment! I'll be moving on to MG2 in the next day or so I guess! Cannot wait!

Tut tut, google! You said no internet allowed! lol. Only kidding mate!

Yeah I bought it from the U.S. for about $7! Quite a bargain for a (sort of) Metal Gear collectible! It's weird though, they swap names and stuff. There is a villain throughout the book, unlike the game.

Metal Gear spoiler:
Spoiler:
...where Big Boss appears as a villain at the end.
The villain's name is CaTaffy! lol. It's strange, but it was written for kids and is something to read at most, I wouldn't recommend it as a novelisation of the game, it's really not that good. Only took 2 hours to read the whole thing though.

I'm really looking forward to Raymond Benson's novelisation of MGS though, that's gonna be cool!

Heh k, it sounds really weird. I didn't know there was a book. Well, such weird things they were up to in the 80s. I will read the rest of the MGS novel after i finnished MGS. I have only started, but not continued... =S

Yup, I was born in the 80's, but it really wasn't a cool era! The only thing good about it was Metal Gear getting born! From what I remember. Then Wham! can along and they ruined everything! lol.

Yeah I've worked out what I'm gonna do. I'll play MGS for PSX first. Then I'll read the novel. Then the Graphic Novel, Twin Snakes and maybe play the P.C. version before I crack on with MGS2. But honestly, I can't see any of that going to plan as I'll probably be sick of the story by the time I get to Twin Snakes! But it'll be worth a shot innit! :)

Congratulations on both accounts mate! lol.

Yeah definitely, I wouldn't dream of playing Twin Snakes before the original mate!

Ok. I'm done with Metal Gear 2. Man, i love this game. But i have never been pissed as i was this time xD It's so many parts which you have to figure out yourself which is impossible!
Spoiler:
Take a smoke before you jump down the tower! (fun, but how de fuck should you know that?)

Look for card 9 in the grass (that is said over the codec, but only the second time you enter the room.

The tap code!

Colonels new freqenzy is said to be written in the manual, which isn't in the ps2 version.

That i needed to backtrack a hell of a long way to find cheese-ration

and most likely much more
but i still love this game. its awesome =D. Now i think i will play LBP till the beta runs out. And after that its time for MGS.

MG2 COMPLETED! Awesome game indeed! Isn't it amazing, I've not played an old school game since my days of playing Sonic the Hedgehog, but the MG games are amazing! I've never played them before but they are pure genious! I was hooked and no doubt will return to them again in the future!

I agree Gixo, it was a daunting task having to retrace back to the Zanzibar building all the time. And some stuff was just unbelievably hard to understand what you should do in a certain situation!

I think it goes without saying that I'm enjoying the games more than I am writing up my thoughts on them, but I'm happier doing that because I want to enjoy the experience. I'll write them up as and when (the MGS3 one is finished and will be posted soon but I need to add a few images to the blog listing first!).

On to Ghost Babel next! Bring it on! :)

Use the jet stream in the sewers next time. Far quicker.

Some guy tells you on the radio about the smoke before jumping. And the frequency change is transmited as tap code through the radio, too.

I didn't even consider the sewers to get around and about! Sounds like a good plan for the next time I play.

I smoked a fag or two before I made the jump but what was the point in smoking before doing it? I never got that, what use did it have?

Heads up anyway fellas, I've completed the first two writeups for MGS3 and MGS:PO. You can read the articles here - Look for Chapter 2 & 3:

http://jonathanpthomas.com/shadowmoses/ ... roduction/

Chapter 2 is a bit of a mammoth but I had a lot to talk about! lol.

Hope you all enjoy and don't slate me too much!

P.S. If you find any broken images or links, or come across any types or mistakes, please let me know, I hate looking like a dick! :)

Did anyone tell you that over codec? Actually fags (UK, fuck yeah!) is told to have a calming effect. But I don't get how Snake should be scared of jumping, such a badass he is.

No dead pictures at your site. I will read it through soon :)

Lol, I get it! Yeah I got told by someone, can't remember who though!

Sorry for those who don't understand a 'fag' = cigarette = tobacco rolled up in white and brown paper type stuff with the intention of setting alight to enjoy a few minutes of peace, only to come back down with a bang once the user smokes the last dreg. Also known to cause cancer.

Not to be confused with the U.S. understanding of the term 'fag' = a person of homosexual persuasion.

Nice one for checking the pics Gixo! Cheers

Haha you are very funny =D Actually i have never smoked a singel fag (damn i love that word now). Anyway, i've read both chapters now and they were simple awesome. I actually got a cold rush in the spine while reading Elisas quote  .

Just one thing. "goes by the name of Eva" > "goes by the codename of EVA". ...not to be rude or anything  . Actually we never got to know here real name.
