Metal Gear Solid Naked actually has an extended version of the "Hideo Kojima at the Movies", in which he covers two additional films: Papillon and Somewhere in Time in case anyone is interested in doing a translation.

It was issue #28 of GamesTM
But issue #29 went on sale a few days ago. If you live in the USA you might still be able to find it, since non-UK countries get the mag a month later than the rest of the world.
Otherwise welcome to the underground world of the Kojima fan!

Someone's written a letter regarding the article, in this month's issue (#30- I found a newsagent that sold it). I can transcribe or scan that if you want.

Some Twat from OPS2 wrote:Blade Runner - Ah, questions of identity. You can see where Kojima got his inspiration for MGS2's big twist. A classic, must-have movie.
Now that is depressing.
In fact, scratch that.

I got a big sense of that from the article. Basically, I ended up skipping anything without Kojima's head beside it.

It's also probably worth mentioning that there's probably a lot of European Hideo Kojima interviews that haven't been seen in the US, which I probably have, if anyone wants me dig out a couple and scan them (I remember a few of them detailed ideas Kojima had for future games that would still be an interesting read).

They spelled says "sez". It's clearly intentional, but I can't think of any possible motive they might have had for doing it. Unbelievable.

It's all to do with these hip and trendy Londoner people who use words like "Wicked" and "Innit". In other words, OPS2 are being complete twats.

I hadn't given it any thought until now, but MGS4 really does resemble the basic premise of Yojimbo, with one man caught in the middle of a war. It's funny that the editors guessed it correctly before the game was even in development.

The above current issue of gamesTM, which is a UK magazine, has my Metal Gear History article printed in it, in the retro section.
I began work on it several months ago, handed it in, but due to the way mags are published, its only gone into print now. I have no idea how heavily edited it was, but it should have run at around 5-6 pages, with a huge comparitive chart of screenshots, but sadly Ive been told its been cut to only 4 pages with only a minimal of 5 screens. (one of which is the Micheal Biehn comparison pic)
Blame the editors for all that, I could have easily written a 20 page essay.
Anyway, if you feel kind enough, buy an issue, read it and give me some feedback. (or better yet, email my boss and tell how brilliant it is so I get commisioned for more work

)
Once the issue is no longer on sale, I will post the text here for you all to read, and if Snatcher agrees, I will send him the comparison chart that never made it. (you can put the whole article up if you want once that issue is not on sale)
The article chronicles the entire MG history, even the obscure things such as the home made Metal Gear VMU game, the Snake's Revenge LCD game and even MGS bottles of wine. (I must have submitted over 100 screenshots, and they ONLY bloody used 5!)
It also lightly touches apon Ghost babel, MGS1, various unreleased versions of MG, and the mobile phone ports, as well as mentioning the fan translations. It also shows SR in a very positive light.
To what degree, I am not sure, since I havent read the edited version yet.
Actually, does someone feel like scanning the article and posting it up here? I dont even live in the same country where its sold, so cant get hold of it.
Anyway, happy reading, and I hope it does the series justice.
A "thank you" must also go to Kid Einstein and Johnny Undaunted, who over the years have posted some very interesting MG pieces of information that helped inspire me.

Did you even try going to the regular site (
http://www.gamestm.co.uk/)? It isn't exactly neuroscience.

The article was never on the official site (as far as I can remember), but it was scanned and uploaded here-

Sorry to bump such an old topic, but I just read the OPSM2 Hideo Kojima's favourite movies article. And, if I remember well, Osiris said OPSM2 cut down elements from the original Japanese article. I'd really appreciate if someone could translate it.

I already have. It should be going up on TUS sometime soon.
