Right, Policenauts has almost as many versions as Blade Runner, haha. Almost.Henry Spencer wrote:It is like Blade Runner in the sense that there are loads of versions of the one project! (Like BR's various different cuts).
You can see it in this photo. And Kojima still has a poster of the game in his office! Interesting...
They moved offices after this picture was taken, but I saw a photo of his new office and it was up there too.
Here's the full poster (from the Visual Data Book).
Something interesting he's done is whenever he's had a voice actor from the game on his podcast, he always gets them to sign a framed portrait from the game. He never does this with MGS or Snatcher. He doesn't explain what it's about, though. The pictures just go up on that day's page.
Here's Hideyuki Tanaka (Jonathan).
You can see the original poster here, just behind Kojima's back.
Then here's Kikuko Inoue (Karen).
This artwork can also be found in one of the strategy guides for the game.
Yeah, definitely. When he wrote about the game 4 years ago for the PSone Books re-release, he said if MGS could be compared to a Hollywood blockbuster, Policenauts would be more of an independent film.Do you know whether he was really proud of his final product after all that work?
Right, he did bug checking for the PC98 version, then became art director for the console versions. He likes it too. Noriaki Okamura (programmer for the game), director for ZOE1 and producer of other titles, said he doesn't think he (Okamura) will ever make a game as good as it his entire career. Shinta Nojiri (scripting and PS version assistant director), the game came up on one of the English podcasts he was on and he said, "I think it's a really cool game." Kazuki Muraoka (sound director) said it showcases Kojima the storyteller. Kumi Sato (modeller) said she considers it an honor to have been the first game she worked on after she joined Konami. Yoshikazu Matsuhana says Policenauts was the genesis of MGS, in terms of style and from a technical standpoint. Then remember what the head of Konami said about it.Funny thing is, that Yoji Shinkawa's first project was that game too, has he ever been vocal in his viewpoint too about the game?
