MAJOR PROBLEMS. Please, I need help from the experts here!

Post by Junker_05 »

I am posting some pictures about problems with the game.

*The newspaper article at the start of the game or whatever it is? The writing and picture keep showing up, but not the actual article in the middle. The writing keeps showing up each 5-30 seconds in the actual game intro.

*And whenever the gameplay bit starts, the cursor automatically goes to the bottom and won't budge. It isn't fair... And it's really pissing me off.

*The first three pictures are the little 3D Konami intro, which works fine, and The intro where you appear to be hurtling into outer space and all the pictures flash up, then it goes to the title screen with all the instrumental music. All that works perfectly. 'Cept after that.

*The sound and picture lag. Lots in the intro where Jonathan and the rest of the Policenauts are operating in outer space. It still lags thereafter, but not as much. I don't know if the gameplay will lag, as it hasn't really gotten to that part yet for the reason I mentioned before.

By the way, this may help - I use PCSX for Mac, as it's the only PSone emulator that will work. Flarestorm REFUSES to open. No matter how many times you double-click it.

Please, help me!

Thank you all again for your time,

No... this did. See how the cursor is at the bottom? It got there itself and it won't budge. Then I tried to get it to move and opened Preferences and it froze. And that goddamn writing is STILL THERE.

See how the newspaper crap still shows up? Am I paranoid, or is this meant to happen along with the lagging?

Unfortunately all those seem as emulator problems, so it would be easier if you post them to the emulator author so he can fix them. I believe it would be the closet path for being able to play it.

But if anyone else has any other suggestions, that'd be great, too! I'm open to all suggestions and am willing to try each and every one of them.

'Cept buy the game. I would, if I had the cash.

I'm not familiar with Mac emulators, so like Snatcher said, you'd need to ask the author about it.

But I must say, I found your file names and descriptions very entertaining. :P

Good luck trying to find a place where it's available. I want to buy the game, but it seems to be sold out at every import site, and thus I had to resort to downloading the game.

Which sites did you try? eBay's also a good choice, if you don't mind a used copy (that's where I got mine, back in '99).

I first got the PSX version on EmuParadise's BitTorrent tracker. Now I'm currently getting Saturn version off of.. lemme just check the History... EmuParadise's BitTorrent tracker, once again. It looks like their PSX copy of it is gone.

Of course I don't mind a used copy  - they're basically nonexistent anyway, right?

Try here: http://mac-psx.hansr.net/

See, if this were windows, I'd say that one of your GPU plugins was either horribly out of date (or programmed) or that it was really hating your video card.

On the site I linked above, I noticed they had Connectix VGS. I dunno if it's the full version or not, but I remember that had an AWESOME compatibility rate (on PC) with no configuration necessary (as it just emulated the PSX without trying any optimizations, graphical upgrades or any of that). Give that a shot (or the Firestorm one they have on there for that matter).

Hope you can solve your issue.

Thanks for your help, guys.

By the way, I'd already tried that site - thanks a lot for the link, anyway.

I've figured out how to get it to run perfectly now. If anyone else has a Mac, Policenauts and PCSX, I can tell them how to get it running as if it were on an actual PSone.

Thanks for the help though, guys!
