To be honest, there's probably much worse terrorists out there, it's just that getting rid of Saddam proved to be profitable. I probably shouldn't make such controversial claims, considering how little I follow politics, though.

I don't support what he did, but how is his death going to help resolve anything? He should be held accountable for what he did, but how is the US. setting an example by killing those who pose problems instead of looking for ways to help solve them. The U.S. Government and too many Americans tend to see things in black and white, he's bad, he's good, they're for us, they're against us. Nothing is ever that simple, and never will be.

Sadam is an evil man! He deserves to die!

You only helped to prove my point.

Saddam Hussein radically improved life for a lot of Iraqis, lowering illiteracy rates, introducing compulsory free education, creating jobs in the cities whilst respecting rural areas... etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's never done anything wrong, but as far as radicals go he was at one point interested in a good cause. Don't just assume all he did was murder people and accumulate wealth for himself.

Hanging him, if that is Iraq's judicial will, will have to be accepted; but deposing a "tyrant" then hanging him seems all back to front to me. Where is the positive message in that? That doesn't show much humanity from the invading forces. This is a really dark time, and I think in the future will be remembered with an air of shame.

Of course you did if you only watch the TV news. They're a bunch of whores. They'll read anything off the teleprompter for money.

Iraq also had the most phDs relative to its total population than any other country in the world. I had a friend in college who was half Iraqi, and he told me exactly what Jonathan just said.

Personally, I've always thought of the death penalty as being better than life in prison or any other punishment. Maybe it's because I've never really percieved death as being bad but instead an extended repreive from life, but I think just slapping Saddam with the death penalty is taking the easy way out for both him and America, if that makes any sense at all.

There was a CNN documentary back before the first Gulf War started that basically said what Jonathan said, but ever since it's been a different story.

Someone should kill all the tyrants I know. That would solve a lot indeed :)

That´s the question. Personally, i don´t see any thing sovled, when he dies (in less than 25-24 days)

It's all true too, so anybody blood hungry for his death actually just watches too much TV, than actually looks at history... but then again who does? Others are already trying to re-write it so they may control the future pretty much.

If you don't see anything solved by his execution than why are you for it?

That is the other truly worrying aspect of his sentence. Why martyr him?

But can we change any of this... not really. I guess you just have to get on with your own life whilst holding your beliefs.

Exactly. That was the point of my previous post.

"That's how you solve things, burn anything you can't control."
Rose - Silent Hill Movie
:P

But there's also another thing... Saddam killed a lot of people, but the measures taken by the USA in Iraq and the Middle East killed a lot more people (including americans).
The only difference is that North Americans are the GOOD and Saddam is the EVIL!![/sarcasm]
