I found a french website dedicated to it, around a year ago. Pretty interesting. Lots of videos, too.

The first footage I ever saw of the game was on a CD that Ultra Game Players had in one of their issues. Then I found that hidden video in one of the PS Underground discs. I still wish they'd release the game in some form or another.

The hack someone did of the demo disc a while back has also given us many previously unseen screens. Combine that with the maps people made based on those, and it's almost like playing the game, I suppose...

Does anyone know whether RE 1.5 is actually lost forever or is it just speculation? Who knows, they may be saving it for PSP or DS?

I doubt they'll ever release it as a stand alone game. I'm almost positive that they wouldn't bother porting it to a different system, too. There's a small chance that with enough demand, it may appear on the PS3's PlayStation Store, or as an extra on Resident Evil 5. I wouldn't count on it, though.

Capcom won't release it. The game is incomplete, and they have used so many features and areas from the game in later Resident Evil and other Capcom titles. The only chance is that a rip of one of the known betas is found online.

And that's not happening. I'm 90% certain we'll never see it.

It's in very high demand, as Resident Evil 2 is a classic game, and any variation of it would be wonderful to see. The hacking community went mad for the two Sonic 2 betas (the second one was even reported on websites like Joystiq and UK Resistance), so a game that's almost completely different to the final release would go for a bomb in auction. I'm sure that some Capcom employees might be tempted to sell it, anonymously.

"Never" is a very definite word. I think it's possible that we'll see it sometime. Not anytime soon, though.

I really do mean it's a slim chance. The 1.5 community know of only a few betas, all of which are not for sale under any circumstance. If those betas were to find themselves to the public, the original beta testers could find themselves in alot of trouble with Capcom. Each beta Capcom issue has, to my knowledge, a small file which contains certain code that Capcom can use to see who was the beta tester. Capcom used this with the beta tester who leaked the early build of the final Resident Evil 2, and that guy got put behind bars due to the agreement he signed with Capcom.

Until those agreements run out, we will not see a rip of the betas. Now, the betas exist, however, the people who own them either won't risk releasing them, or they are within private collectors hands. This is true of the 3 known copies of 1.5, 2 are in private collector circles and one is still with the ex-Capcom employee.

Capcom themselves may release some form or playable build of the game, but this is unlikely. The last official Capcom recognition of 1.5 was on a bonus disc with Resident Evil Directors Cut Dual Shock in Japan. Since then, they have ignored all petitions and pleas from fans for the game. This is the same thing with the early versions of Resident Evil 4.

Capcom is the kind of company that'll release and re-release every available product in a series. They don't care about innovation, they aren't concerned with originality, they don't even care about updating some of their older franchises. As long as it sells, that's all that matters. So if any company were to release an unfinished game on the market, Capcom would be that company. But I think at this point, those chances are extremely slim. We're better off with just the screenshots, as our imaginations probably play a whole lot better than whatever pieces of gameplay still exist of 1.5. And for that matter, I'm sure we'll see a remake of RE2 down the line, so I'd much prefer seeing that released instead.

RE4 was pretty different and innovative, though that was an exception. I hope it indicates a new beginning for them.

You are talking about the publishers of "Okami", "killer7" and "Viewtiful Joe".
On the other hand though, you're talking about the publishers of "Megaman: Battle Network 6", "Resident Evil Survivor 2: Code Veronica" and "Super Street Fighter II X Grand Master Challenge for Matching Service".
Oh, and they decided to get rid of Clover, too.

Right. Clover is dead. Capcom just threw away all their innovation and creativity. Maybe to create more time for developing future Megaman and Street Fighter titles? Or maybe we'll see another Genji sequel for the PS3 released in the next couple months. I can't wait.

Well, you can't predict when someone's going to do something original. It's a bit of contradiction if you can.

How do you know the collectors are being honest? A lot of people just like to say certain things to make other people jealous. At least we do know for sure there is at least one beta of 1.5, though, but is there any proof they've changed hands?

Capcom are awesome, they are dedicated to their fans. Look at Final Fight; whereas SEGA have abandoned Streets Of Rage, Capcom keep inputting chracters from Final Fight in the Sreet Fighter seres; for their fans. Now that's dedication!

They should have listened to thier fans about Resident Evil Outbreak File #2. People complained about the lack of voice and text chat and what do they get? nothing!

I wouldn't really call it dedication, per say, but instead developers having fun. Personally, if I was at a company like Capcom or something I'd throw in all kinds of references to obscure stuff just for personal enjoyment because I'm a bastard like that.

Well it just shows they haven't forgotten about a series about ten years old, they could have used 'references for fun' on something like Resident Evil, but no, they opt for Final Fight.

Since like 1999 I've been writing hate mail (with pen and paper) to Capcom at least 4 times a year demanding the release! Each with a new suggestion ahaha. But the most common one being that if they decide to release a god damn anniversary mega turbo alpha Gold pack -they could at least release as a bonus what was left of the nearly finnished product!

And I can only hope I'm not the only one as well... with the hate mail lol. If they could spend the time and money releasing a piece of shit like "Devil May Cry 10" they could at least make time to re-format this. It wouldn't even be that hard either, but the only thing we could hope for is that they didn't destroy anything which was left of that build during the scrapping proccess for 2's final version.

I think you should be attacking Street Fighter more than anything; look at how many add-on games that gets!
