Cigarette Inconsistancy

I'm sure everyone's noticed this and there's probably a topic about it somewhere, but I was looking through shots from the pc engine version when I noticed something... In the picture of Ed and Jonathan in his office at the beginning, he has a cigarette in his mouth... I thought to myself, hey man, he didn't smoke before he got lost in space... Like, wtf. Then I looked at the same shot from the Sega Saturn version, and he wasn't smoking. Seems like they noticed it afterwards.
...... Just thought I'd like to bring that up... *scratches head*

Are you sure you're thinking of the same picture? There's no cigarette in the PC-98 version either.

Oh, you meant that one. That's interesting... I wonder why no one on the team noticed it (or why it was added to that one and isn't found on the other one).

I'd also question why his cigarettes aren't ever visibly smoking... But then again, I haven't seen much. Only what nurupon shows me... Which is weekly 10 minute episodes. *hangs self*

He doesn't smoke on Beyond Coast because he'd be arrested (smoking is illegal there, since it would damage its air system).

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrreally???? Egads, the thought never entered my mind, t'would make sense tho wouldn't it lol... But he hangs on to them, huh? Maaan, he must jones for 'em bad if he always keeps 'em in his mouth.

Yeah, he says keeping it in his mouth helps calm him down. They first talk about it on the spaceplane.

You watch those dreadful YouTube videos? Don't! The translation will be released sometime this year, you should be able to wait.

Stop watching!?? Are you kidding me??? Its no problem for me, I can make sense out of 'em, besides, I don't mind watching games being played.
And I'm very impatient!! That being said, I can't wait until you guys finish the translation!

But you missed the bit about the cigarette, didn't you? The thing is, how much more might people be missing?

Plenty as it doesn't make much sense most of the time. That's why I, along with most of the non-Japanese speaking board members (I'd think), eagerly await the translation patch. The game deserves it.

I agree 100% with what you're all saying... But the one hook in all of this is that noone knows when the translation will be done. Believe me, as soon as the patch is complete, or there's any kind of release ever, I'm going to be buying the game, regardless of a very basic Youtube subtitling. But as of right now, I don't have the patience lol...

They've stated it's going to be released soon mate. Just try and wait at least, you'll thank us for it, believe me.

Damn straight, I'll be thanking you guys. And if what you're saying is true, then it'll be done far before nurupon's subtitling eps are finished. So there goes that, hahaha~

Despite what Spencer said I'm pretty sure that the the Policenauts dump is still in it's very early stages, still working on getting the original text from the game extracted completely. So I really think it's a matter of if you want to wait and experience it with all it's nuances once it is translated or get the rough idea of what happens throughout the game from the videos.

I think you should wait a bit longer or read the other posts before asserting that Dave. =)
