How do i convert PSone games, so i can play them on my PSP? I know there´s another way, besides buying them over the PS3. How do i do it?

I was going to write a guide, but it proved to be a fairly long and boring task, especially when there's so many guides around.
First you need to get a custom firmware like the recently released 3.10 OE-A. Then you can either rip your own games with something like CloneCD, or download them (I wouldn't advise it, but PAL games don't work very well on the PSP, so I've been downloading NTSC versions of my collection).
Once you've done that you'll need to convert the files into EBOOTs with a program like Icetea.
I'd provide links, but I'm in a rush, so you'll have to google some of the keywords I've given you.

Just do a Google search and you should find it.

Make a folder in the GAME folder named after the game's speciffic code (something like "SCPS45412"). Put the EBOOT in there.

Something like: SLES00972 ? (that´s some numbers i found on Resident Evil 2)

Yeah, that's it. It's not very important for much (I've used the PAL code for Klonoa on the American version), unless you want to use homebrew that relates to speciffic game codes (like cheat programs).

EDIT- I notice that's a European Resident Evil 2 code. PAL games tend to have a lot of problems on the PSP (the screen being forced in an odd place, graphical errors, speed errors, etc.). I think there's programs around that fix these problems, but the one I downloaded didn't work. Some versions of Resident Evil 2 also freeze at certain points on the PSP (entering the Police Station, being the first), so I wouldn't use it as a test for this.

MGS: Integral and RE2 are the only games that I've had problems running (Integral, because you can't play disc 2 without doing some hacking or transferring a save). Most other things should be okay (most multi-disc games let you save between discs, so you can power off and start from the next one).

Wonder how the NTSC version does on the PSP. You think i should use the NTSC version for testing?

EDIT: Ok, i downloaded Silent Hill via isoHunt. So now i should put it in the folder, with the game´s code right?

If you've converted it to an EBOOT, yes. PAL games work fine with the new OE 3.10-a firmware, if you can be bothered to update. RE2 still seems to freeze on the Police Station, though. :(

The software to convert the dump to an EBOOT is free. It's called Icetea.

What about this whole "bricking" thing I've been hearing about, the boards that frag themselves if you do downgrade your firmware? It's an awefully terrifying prospect...
And to get this homebrew firmware you do need a wireless internet connection (stupid question....), don't you...?

As long as you pay attention and do exactly as the guides say, you need not worry about bricking your PSP.

How about making multidisc games to work? At the moment I'm stuck between discs on MGS, and simply transfering the save data from disc 1 to disc 2 hasn't helped. I have no idea why I thought it would.

Any idea of where to find this kind of information, at least?

Yeah, that's what I'm looking at, but the problem is that their link for the modified folder you need to make it all work is long done. Could somebody with the right one fill me in on where to find it?

No. Just custom firmware. A new one was released today. This should allow you to take advantage of all the features of official firmware, while also allowing you to play homebrew and "back-up" games.

Hm. I still can't find any of the proper cwcheat stuff, the modified folder or anything, so I have no idea how to proceed on that front. I've been looking for some MGS disc 2 save data that I could load, but the only file I found so far turned out to be a RAR, not a VMP, which is how my computer reads the memory card information.

87th, you've obviously figured out the whole disc 2 problem. Any way that I could get the proper disc 2 save data, or the correct cwcheat folder? I'm guessing you know where to find up-to-date stuff. The latter would probably be preferable, since I'd be able to get seperate Meryl/Otacon data myself, but if there's any places to simply find data that starts from the very beginning of disc 2, that'd certainly be convenient as well.

I'm really not sure if I've done it correctly. I've been playing on Integral, and I'm not sure whether it only works with the regular version of MGS, or if I'm not doing it right. You're probably best to ask someone on a dedicated PSP hacking forum.

I've been checking them out, and for the most part the only answers are the CWCheat (which will only work if I can find the modified folder, which seems to be pretty much unavailable). Either that, or I find save data files in the wrong format. Can you let me in on what you did? Sure, Integral and the original aren't going to have the same codes, or anything, but it'd at least be a step in the right direction.

Honestly? It's been so long ago that I can't remember what I did. You're really much better off asking someone else about it. I've tried all sorts of different stuff to try and continue playing on my PSP. I even completed the whole of disc 1 on my PS3, and attempted to transfer the save to my PSP, but it wouldn't work. I wouldn't be able to tell you how to get it to work without reading a tutorial, and you're much better off doing that yourself.
