Just watched movie 1408.
It was better than i expected, the story was more deep than i first thought after i saw the trailer first. I also found the movie to be scary unlike most of the horror movies i've seen.
Rating: 3½/5

Well, there are a lot of great movies fighting for that title: Tommy, A Clockwork Orange, The Wall, The Godfather...
But i can assure you that my favourite movie is Blade Runner. The blending of noir and cyberpunk, the great cast, characters that provoke empathic feelings in the viewers, and those awesome trenchcoats.
Yep, i'd have to say Blade Runner.

And then the long pulse of Zion Dub...

Favourite films are always very difficult. If I wanted a cop-out, I'd just list a concert DVD that's presented as film. I'm not fond of that idea, though.
I'd probably have to say Die Hard or Enter The Dragon. Of course, I really enjoy laughing at really bad films, so I might be tempted to say Double Team, Black Samurai or Bruce Lee Fights Back From The Grave.

Just watched The Fly (1986). Incredible movie from one of the masters of horror; David Cronenberg. I really recommend this one for all people who like films with well developed characters and films that really care about their characters. There isn't endless bloodbaths, this is slow moving, provocative and provides an account of a fictional tragedy, from each character's perspective. Powerful stuff.
Best movie remake, alongside John Carpenter's The Thing, undoubtedly. It far surpasses the original.

I'm a big fan of The Fly. You'll notice that Jeff Goldblum has generally been typecast as eccentric scientists since The Fly. His performance in that film was too memorable.Henry Spencer wrote:Just watched The Fly (1986). Incredible movie from one of the masters of horror; David Cronenberg. Old Boy kicked some ass! I agree with Solidé 100%. It is part of a trilogy they'll do and its going to be remade (w/ Nick Cage I think) in Hollywood sometime (after the writers strike I'm sure and next years studio strike also).
Electroma was kewl.
Man I hate bootleggers... I prefer to buy real DVDs. My Jem Season 3 (80s toons) only had the first part on it. I had to buy for another $20 the last 20 episodes from another bootlegger. Oh, well... I knew going into it that it might be shady. The last part was never official released on DVD anyway so bootleg (dude got it on his DVR when they aired it a awhile back and burned it to disc) is the only choice. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jem_(TV_series)
I saw "The Boys And Girls Guide To Getting Down". Funny but stupid. If you do not dig a bit of party drug use advice then stay away- but over all its an amusing film to see about the LA scene and boys and girls doing the night time club/bar hook up thing.
Saw Revolver by Guy Ritchie. Good film but not as good as his others IMO.
Ordered the Billionaire Boys Club (tv movie) from Australia. Can't get it on DVD here. So its another PAL R4 DVD for my collection...
Dog Bite Dog kicked ass. Good Chinese film.
Watching "Rozen Maiden" anime... Its okay. Red Garden is next in my cue.
Saw Hardbodies (1984 movie) and it was fun to view for an 80s film. Need to buy Hardbodies 2 on VHS.
Thats about all for now.

Hardware. Screamin' creature of its time.... Awesomely grungy mess, it actually reminds me of Ministry... Some great imagery and themes, I like the blatant cynicism and darkness.
My gripes, aside from it having an unroundness akin to a short story, would have to be the baaaaaaaad acting....
I don't have the stomach for this kind of stuff lately... I would've loved it back in High School. When I listened to all that Ministry...
Oh, and spoiler,
Maybe not so much of a spoiler anyhow.

I love the design of the T-800. Its head looks better than the Snatcher's too. More intimidating. I nearly bought that recently released LE bust of it.87th wrote:I watched The Terminator today. Bit of a childhood favourite of mine, as my brother first showed it to me when I was 4. It's aged quite a bit since then, but I still appreciate the 80's sci-fi horror charm flowing through it.
I'll give you a clue as to what film I want to see next.
Where is the Mr. Pibb? I told your secretary to pack Mr. Pibb. It's the only Coke I like. Goddamn Brenda exploding like a water balloon, worms driving my friends around like they're goddamn skin-cars, people are spitting acid at me, turning you into cottage cheese, and now there's no fucking goddamn Mr. Pibb?

I love City Hunter... I got got the CDs X, Y and Z City Hunter Sound Collections imported for my music library. I love 80s anime.shidoni wrote:City Hunter Special: Goodbye My Sweetheart.
Dissapointing..... Didn't expect much, though. The latter part of the franchise's life span really kindof sucked, but that's what happen when you stretch something for 11 years. Pretty character designs though... bogged by the lack of money and care.
I bought all the ADV Films DVD versions of CH when they came out here in the USA (all the 80s and 91 TV series are the best IMO). Great anime but yeah, it did die off near the end. Such is life!
--------------------
Saw Godzilla Final Wars (2004). Kick ass movie!
Watching Little Darlings (1980) and Azumi 2.
Also watching Nip Tuck (tv show) and saw-via a torrent I snagged- BBC's Exposed. That was a 2005 show about psychology in the contemporary life we live in 4 categories- Liars, Heartbreak, Persuaders, and City Life. Very good shows.
Got Billionaire Boy's Club DVD and will watch that soon.
Anime- I'm finishing Real Bout High School. Fun action anime.
Thats about it for me.

Reminds me, I've got a T-800 keyring that I bought at Universal Studios in LA. Never really thought of it as being Snatcher related before, but now that you mention it, it's given me a new-found appreciation for it. It's pretty impractical as a keyring though (it's huge and weighs a ton), so I don't think I'll use it.Osiris wrote: I love the design of the T-800. Its head looks better than the Snatcher's too.
