The T-1000 is still one of my favourite movie villains from the 90's. Robert Patrick has never gotten a better role. Same goes for Arnie with his role as the T-800. The T-800 made me terrified as a kid when I watched the first film, with him clawing away at the floor, trying to catch Sarah Connor, who was helpless to get away. Such a tense film.

Last movie I watched was King Kong, the black and white from 1933. I really didn't expect much... Little did I know, lol.... There's something incredibly disturbing about watching an animal just haul another animal's jaw apart, the latter still being alive when the former is done with it, blood pouring from its mouth and jawline, gasping for air as carrion birds begin their work. The belligerent Apatosaurus in the river scared the shit out of me too, hah~
Utterly amazing in the context of 1933...

If you have the King Kong box set (the classic stop motion films one) there are some killer extras and historical info to be viewed. I bought it when the Peter Jackson remake was in theaters a few years back and they were hyping it again. Well worth the money. Cool that the box set has the uncut version- Kong throws a lady to her death and eat people. Raw stuff for 1933!

Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles starts on Fox in 08. I'll Tivo that and see if its worth my time. Looks to be fun from what I saw preview wise.

I just finished Cidade de Deus (City of God). ONE OF THE BEST GANGSTER FILMS EVER!! Amazing start to end. A must see. Based on real events too, they put the actual news interview in the end credits. Wow! That film is great. (very bloody tho- be warned! If you do not like the mix of kids and violence- done to them and by them stay away) Man the power plays people make and the ways it effects and interlocks into the lives of many others is beautifully presented. A rollercoaster unfolding of the chaos and effect of loyalty and drive to gain more in the fucked up but real world that people are thrust into and must make do in. I cannot praise it enough. Get it and watch it.

Also I have in cue to see Once Upon a Time in America (Two-Disc Special Edition) and Infernal Affairs (Mou gaan dou). Keeping with the gangster trend...

I saw the Bleach anime movie. Good action. I need to watch the full series of Bleach- it looks to be cool.

Saw Gunslinger Girls anime- nice as well (short tho).

I caught I Am Legend. It worked... It was what I thought it would be.

Thats about it. :)

Theatrical version of ANH aka; just plain Star Wars.

- Han shoots first
- No Jabba
- No CGI

I just bought Blade Runner on the net and plan to watch it once it arrives.

Kind of saw Run Lola Run again... It was on this girl's roommate's TV in their living room and the roommate was watching it.

Need to see No Country for Old Men with friends.

I saw Kill Bill Volume 1 for around the 100th time. One of my friends suggested it was shit compared to Pulp Fiction. I argued it's pretty much the same film with a different setting and less famous cast. He has a pretty crap taste in films, but it did make me wonder what the popular consensus is.

Vol. 2 is the superior Kill Bill. 1 is nowhere near as bad as some people make out. I enjoyed both a whole lot. Pulp Fiction is Tarantino's best though.

Yeah, the soundtrack is very nice :)
Aronofsky is not my type of director, really, but he makes some nice movies. I still have to watch Pi.

Nah, I watched the Dollar Store edition, hahah~ The previously cut material was restored though, like the lady thrown to her death and all that. No Peter-Jackson-Imagined-Octopus-Death scene, though.

Man With The Golden Arm, a 1955 black and white starring Frank Sinatra.... Interesting stuff... I really enjoy the kind of subtle culture shock of watching older movies. Ear-catching soundtrack, unusual characters, and an interesting conflict, a bit muffed by the pacing tripping up now and then, but credit is given, as pacing the rise and fall of a drug addiction, I would imagine, would be a bit difficult in 2 hours....

....Then The People Under The Stairs.... Hilariously bad..... Watching it is like looking at an x-ray of Wes Craven, I can see straight into his mind. I couldn't figure out if I was supposed to be scared, or think it was cool or something, maybe both... Maybe I was supposed to be a 13 year old boy.

Edit: Oh yeah, and before that, I caught a glimpse of Little Big-Foot 2: Journey Home. *stabs self repeatedly* STABSTABSTABSTAB

Oldboy

Never before have I had so many WTF moments in a single film. Beautiful music, with plenty of twists and turns and it keeps you on the edge til the end, and when you do find out about all these secrets, it's just...the hell? Powerful stuff.

OldBoy is my all time top1 favourite movie.
I love the story, character, soundtrack and direction in that movie... absolutely the best movie ever made (IMO). I haven't seen it for a while tho, (in 6 months or so) i have to watch it again soon. (propably 13th time in 2 years xD ).

btw, here is my personal IMDB top list:

^Not on IMDb, (great list, btw) but I'll list them in order right here and now:

1. Angel Heart
2. The Shining
3. Jacob's Ladder
4. The Thing
5. Alien
6. Blade Runner
7. Kafka
8. Terminator 2
9. Die Hard
10. The Pianist
11. Saving Private Ryan
12. The Godfather parts I & II
13. Lord Of The Rings Trilogy
14. A Clockwork Orange
15. Schindler's List
16. The Elephant Man
17. To Live And Die In LA
18. Taxi Driver
19. Eraserhead
20. They Live
21. Goodfellas
22. The Fly
23. Enter The Dragon
24. Batman: Mask Of Phantasm
25. Bourne Trilogy

Keep in mind, aside from the number one spot, my opinion on my top list continually changes, Taxi Drive used to be in my top 5, but just recently got pushed down after I watched a lot of these movies again. I consider all of these films masterpieces. :D

Not got around to seeing OldBoy yet (I know, I know, shame on me), but I'll give it a shot, I love twisted stories.

Oh and I watched The Shining last night for the first time, I liked the whole underlying eerieness to it, as though something wasn't quite right about the whole scenario. A family moving to a disused hotel in the middle of nowhere, there's a very uncomfortable air around it. You KNEW something wasn't right about the place. Mind you, I was particularly fond of the hotel's chef, it was like he was this singular island of pleasantness and safety in the film. Also, Nicholson's always been great at playing crazy.

If that's the older shining, where they used the real stanley hotel (Is that the right name? I haven't seen it...) They forgot to show the safeway that's right down the road. I live kinda (an hour or two of driving) close to there.
Life and Death hang in perfect balance...I'm only here to tip the scales.

Never quite understood what makes it so great. Personally, it makes me feel sleepy (just as Blade Runner - but, at least, I like Ridley Scott's film).

Well, it was built on an ancient Native American cemetery (Besides, American guiltiness about the massacre of the Native Americans could be one of the underlying themes in the film). Moreover, a former caretaker (one of the Gradies) killed his family in there.

Yeah, but the problem is that he seems crazy to me since the beginning ; thus, I think there's almost no tension building ; you know he's going to end up trying to kill his family with an axe. (A theme I found out while re-watching the film : the destruction of the family nucleus).

I prefer the Simpsons' parody. :P

You know, the first time I watched it, when I was merely thirteen years of age, so it left a big impression on me, as well as being the first film that I saw by my future favourite director, Kubrick. It felt so tense to me back then, and still feels like the best made horror movie ever to me. The film has so many hidden messages in there, and is overloaded with symbolism.

Here are some examples:
Spoiler:
Every time an apparition appears to Jack Torrance (the bartender, the deceased woman in the bathroom, the butler) he is actually looking at himself in the mirror.

This guy's finds on the film are quite extraordinary:

I love films like that; with each time you watch, you find new things every time. Makes the viewing that much more enjoyable.

Speaking of Michael Jackson's Moonwalker... I have the R2 PAL DVD (no DVD of it for the USA market officially) I bootlegged Capitan EO. Non 3D of course but fun to see that 15 min Disneyland film again.

The People Under The Stairs? LOL! I remember the best part of that movie was the line "Shit, maybe the President will make me sectary of PUSSY!" The rest was sloppy horror. Not unlike the Hills Have Eyes remake and its sequel.

See Parents. That horror film is in the same lazy mold but way more fun to see then The People Under the Stairs is.

The Man With The Golden Arm is great. I always think of Tony Rome (another Frank film) too when I think of Man With The Golden Arm. IDK why tho... They are not even the same kind of film- but both good!

When I think of The Shining I think of Jack's range as an actor- Witches of Eastwick and As Good as it Gets to contrast that role he played there- REDRUM!! REDRUM!!

@ Solidé- LOLz! xXx is on your list.... To each is own tho!

I just saw CB4. Funny if not mainly stupid.

Nothing beyond that really....

I just got an Excel Saga dvd (i'm not saying how), and i watched it. HOLY BALLS IT'S HILARIOUS!
Each episode is a parody on an anime genre, but they're completely over the top. Besides it's got the best use of author inserion i've ever seen.
Get it somehow and watch it!
You will not be dissapointed
And then the long pulse of Zion Dub...

I got addicted to Excel Saga when I first started watching anime (probably around 5 years ago, now). I really, really loved it. The second half of the series is far weaker than the first, but those episodes are still worth watching for to get to the infamous 26th episode.

Puni Puni Poemi is willing to go even further over the top, but sacrifices some of the comedy for that purpose, so I wasn't quite so much a fan of that one.
