PSOne Policenauts [Request]

Hello everyone.
I'm in need of a physical copy of Policenauts for the original PlayStation. The allowed editions are "Original" and "The Best." (Not "The Books" edition.) The item should be complete, containing the box, instruction booklet, and discs.

If someone is selling the item, please reply to this thread, and I'll Accept or Decline the offer. If the offer is Accepted, we will arrange a Private Auction in eBay to ensure proper payment and shipment practices.

Thank you for reading!

I could pick up a cheap copy when I'm in Japan, but that's still a month away. It's another month after that before I'm in an English-speaking country with an easy-to-use postal service, as well. If no one else offers, then I'm afraid that's probably the most convenient way to do it.

I used to go into Japanese post offices and only speak English just to watch the employees squirm. You see the sweat suddenly appear on their face just like anime and manga -- pretty amazing, really. The ones I dealt with actually did quite well.

You know, I'd wait that long if it's a cheap enough copy - What price range (In USD) are we talking?

A game like PS Policenauts, no more than $10 in a used games store. Depending on where you look, you could even find it for less. I saw a complete Saturn version for $8 one time.

Well for me, since I live in the UK, we have the pund against the dollar, meaning we save a hell of a lot. Therefore, if I saw Policenauts for $15, then it would only cost me around £7.99, it's great.

I can tell things are cheap as chips over in Japan though, but eBay should be your best bet, 'Kojima Devotee'

Yeah, that's why I'm here, Mr. Spencer - eBay hasn't had many good deal on Policenauts for the PSOne. The copies I find usually aren't in good condition and cost between $30 and $50! I know Policenauts is widely available in Japan, so I refuse to pay prices that high [on top of $15 shipping]!

Since you guys know your stuff and have better connections, I figured I'd come straight here and see what help I could find. Snatcher is my favorite cult game, and, while I believe Konami will one day bring Policenauts to the US, I know that it won't be any time soon. And I'd like to get a copy before the famed patch is released.

I predict that, once the word is truly out about the patch, all Kojima "devotees" (such as myself) will be scrambling to get a physical copy of the game so they can sample the translation. If that happens, then I'll HAVE to pay $50 for a copy of Policenauts.

So, 87th's deal sounds fine with me; I'll wait for Policenauts. If anyone can find me a copy for around that wonderful $15 range, I'll gladly take up one of those offers. (Providing 87th hasn't left for Japan yet.)

By the way, I very much appreciate the help! You guys are extremely helpful!

I only leave on June 11th. I'll be happy to send you a copy when I get back (around July 13th). I'll only ask you pay for the retail price + postage, since I'm not doing this to make a profit, just to help out another fan. :)

Hi.
Thank you for your help, but I just recently got an offer from a business associate of mine - He will be able to acquire a copy during his travels. I do thank you for your offer, though. Admittedly, I felt guilty inconveniencing you, but I thoroughly appreciate your willingness to help.

Thanks again! :D

Oh, it wouldn't have inconvenienced me at all. I'm just quite happy to hear you'll be able to get the game. :)

If anyone else is having trouble finding a copy, I'd be happy to help.

Hope you haven't left yet, 87th, it's only been a couple days since you posted. I am looking for a PSX copy as well, I do own the Sega Saturn version, but I'll need a PSX one when the patch is released, do you think you could help me out?

Don't worry, I've got another 2 weeks here (wow, that's not long now!). I'll probably make a few posts here when I'm in Osaka too, as the hotel has internet access. If that's the case I'll be able to report back with different prices on different editions of the PlayStation game. If that's not the case though, is there any specific version you want? The cheapest version, the highest quality, or the best condition?

I would have responded sooner to this but my Internet died Friday night, so I was stuck being almost bored out of my mind (thankfully I had a room to paint to keep my mind of all the internets I was missing).

As for the copy I want, I'd like to get my hands on the best/most valuable copy out there which is in the best condition, and if that's not available the next step down. However, I don't want something that's JUST the disc, you know what I mean? I'd like to have the case, cover art and all that as well. I'd be willing to see what you can find as you go around to game shops (which I know you will be going because if you don't you're insane.)

Have a good trip! :D

I would recommend Rinkya (http://www.rinkya.com) for all your Japanese auction needs. I've used them a few times to get a hold of Japanese games. I will personally vouch for their service (as if that means a whole lot).

Luckily, we have a few awesome import places in Honolulu, so I haven't needed them recently (Being in Japan right now helps as well :P)

Good luck finding the game, man. It's definitely worth the hassle.

Well, I'm posting this from my hotel in Nishinari-ku (just a few minutes walking distance from Den Den Town/Nipponbashi), and I've seen pretty much any Kojima-related stuff you could ask for, boxed MetalGear 2 (I bought it), MSX Snatcher, the Gold MGS Premium Pack, Mint copies of Ghost Babel... no PlayStation Policenauts. :(

I'll keep looking, but I can't find a copy anywhere. Sorry.

¥10,000 for Snatcher and around ¥4,000 for Ghost Babel. Use a currency convertor, and that seems quite cheap (dunno about dollars, but that's around 40 pound and 15 pounds).

"Fantastic fun! Take on the rest to the Fighting world, it is easy to play and funny

The lowest price find in e-bay for this item !"

I laughed my ass off when I read that, especially since it was the most expensive of the three copies found.

Still no luck on the PlayStation version, but I picked up a mint copy of the 3DO version on saturday from Big Tiger. Only 380 yen ($3.06/1.53 pounds)! Anyone beat that?

That's got to be a rhetorical question. Got to be.

Honestly though, keep browsing, you should find more great bargains. Any other savings you wish to share with us? (Also see if you can get the extremely expensive Bare Knuckle III AKA Streets Of Rage 3 in the west, you'll be able to sell that for such a high price).

I've seen Bare Knuckle III in a few places, actually. I considered getting it for the Ash character (read up about that if you don't know who he is), but I didn't bother as I have no way of playing Japanese Megadrive games without taking apart the carts or buying some peripheral. Can't remember what type of price it was, though. Easy to ignore when there's ¥500 Pocketstations and ¥1000 mint copies of Choatix right beside it (did I mention I picked up a second-hand 60gig PS3 for the same price as a PAL Wii?).

There's a tonne of stuff I could buy if I simply wanted to make money, but I'd rather spend the limited money I have with me on stuff I want to play, rather than sell (especially since I only have limited space in my luggage). I was very tempted when I saw the Club Nintendo-exclusive DS Game And Watch Collection for around ¥1500, though.

Haha, I see, sounds like you're really enjoying yourself down there. Let us know what you managed to get in the end when you get back home, since I know I'm interested at least.
