I'm trying to play Metal Gear; but it won't work.

But last night for fun I played Crash Bandicoot. I'd forgotten how great that game was. Planning got buying Warped on Thursday

Just finished Portal on the PS3. Not a long game, but an original and funny one. Great ending song too.

Next up is replaying Half-Life 2. Currently at Ravenholm. That place still gives me the whillies. The issues with the PS3 version seem a little exaggerated, by the way. Definitely worth picking up if you've never played HL2 before and only have a PS3.

Currently playing and enjoyin' the sights and sounds of Endless Ocean for the Wii, which I picked up for the budget price of £16.70 (about $30). It's not every day that you get the chance to play something where you're a marine biologist, so it's a welcome change from the usual action adventure games I find myself engaged with. It's a great way to just relax, explore the depths and enjoy the scenary.

Glad to hear it. I've got Half-Life 2 for the PC, but my laptop makes it play like a homebrew Dreamcast port.

I completed Power Stone as Falcon, last night. Great game, even if playing it on my PSP makes my hands hurt. The sequel`s far better, though.

Mass Effect. Definitely one of the best Xbox360 games of the year (when my Xbox isn't crashing like Paris Hilton on a coke binge)

I just finished Portal with a friend on his 360. Glorious game, even if it's so short we completed it in one sitting. Hopefully, I can hold myself off from buying the PS3 Orange Box for a while, now.

Finished Half-Life 2 on the PS3. Where to start... I'd played it on the PC before, and it's just as impressive 3 years after its release. For me, this is the greatest action game ever made. I can't even begin to systematically describe how good it is. I couldn't do it justice. If you've played it you know what it's like, and if you haven't then go get it now. I'd recommend it to anyone, even those who don't particularly care for FPSes (because if any game has a shot of turning them around, this is it).

Bikini Karate Babes (PC game from 2002)

Shit game! Fun (and mildly funny) for like 10 mins....Then it becomes a chore.

What was slightly more fun was Final Fight Revenge for the Saturn. Not great but still better then BKB was.

I game I finished but lost was the one to stop my pal from buying a Wii for $650 USD online. I told him to just wait and get one in late Jan 08 for its MSRP $250 USD. But no- he "had to play it now" and got fucked paying the inflated price. Man, all the stuff he could have gotten for the Wii ( or in general) with that extra $400. Oh, well. LOL!

I got The Orange Box for the PS3 today. Osiris was right about it. The faults have been vastly over-criticised. The pack is an incredible deal, and the PS3 plays Half-Life 2 better than any PC I've played it on. I've played Half-Life 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2 on it, and they all play much better than I'd anticipated. If you've ever used an emulator before, the frame skips shouldn't bother you at all.

If you don't have a 360 or a high-spec PC, I'd recommend the PS3 version. It's probably the best game on the console at the moment.

Just been on the Wii at my friend's for the first time, it is a great machine. Maybe the novelty will wear thin eventually? Who knows, all I know is, right now, I enjoy playing on it.

Been playing Halo 3, I'm surprised, it's actually rather good (and I mean, I like it more than the other two games). Will play it again and again, with my friends.

I'll be playing my other game I got for X Mas; Call Of Duty 4, which I have heard lots of good things about. Not a FPS nut or anything, but this present came from my parent's intuition, so it was a good choice from them. Hope it's good, otherwise I'll swap it for Assassin's Creed.

I got Fear Effect 1 and 2 for Xmas from this girl who... is kind of creepy. Thats drama and a half- she bought me the gift so I will go on a date with her. How she found out that I wanted those retro games for the PSX is another sad (for her stalker ass) tale...

I have the games now tho. I will play them shorty. I never beat FE1 (never owned it) and I never even played the 2nd one.

Man they are some cool titles tho! Hard as hell if I recall from my 1st go at FE1 and from what others say about the 2nd....Should be fun! 8)

Call of Duty 4 (PS3). What a great game. Relatively short single player campaign, but extremely memorable. The combat is gritty and intense, and the end... well it tore my heart out. I actually know a guy in the Special Boat Service. He's probably been in a lot of these situations for real, but without a reset button at hand. Makes me feel stupid for playing a bloody game, really.

Aye. The whole game was intense throughout. Like the bit when
Spoiler:
The Sergeant you play as dies halfway through the game thanks to the nuke, talk about a twist!
It's practically the only warfare game I've fully liked sine, well, Medal Of Honour on PSX! Not a fan of the genre, but this one had a pretty good storyline mixed with inventive situations you find yourself in, set in the modern warfare, whilst still retaining that gritty feel. Loved it. The ending was bleak though, I agree.
Spoiler:
But at least you get your own back before the end!

You haven't heard the half of it. I didn't even like him as a friend. :(

VJ1+2 are wonderful games that should be recognised amongst the best of its generation. It's a pity that the licence was attached to two far inferior games and (from what I've heard) shit anime series. It's really damaged the credibility of the original games.

I just completed Half-Life 2 tonight, via the PS3 version of The Orange Box. I had the game on my PC and thoroughly enjoyed it, but as I got to some of the larger action scenes at the end, I realised the machine was having serious trouble running the game. I decided to save the ending until I had a good enough system to run it at a respectable speed. Despite what some, more console war-influenced people might tell you, the PS3 does the job well. I was really excited once I came across scenes that I hadn't played (even though there was only around an hour or so of them). The game's one of the best of the last 5 years, and I insist that everyone give it a shot.

Double post, sorry.

I just completed Half-Life 2: Episode 2 on the PS3 Orange Box today (I did Episode 1 over the weekend, I think). Quite a mixed game. A couple of the sections seemed too long, and the game had nowhere near the variety of the original HL2, but it made up for it with a couple of really fantastic ideas and an incredible ending.

The one thing I must get back to is my surprise about all the complaints about how Episode 2 runs on the PS3. Maybe Japanese PS3s just run the game better or something, but I had next to no problems. It crashed when I first saw a Combine Advisor, but I doubt that was a problem with the game itself. I can't remember any points where the framerate dropped noticeably. The only real issue I had with playing the game on the PS3 was that I didn't like the driving controls. The Orange Box is, in my opinion, easily the best game on the PS3 and you'd be making a serious mistake if you bought something else first.

Valve sure have a great track record. Even if their games fall short, there still isn't one title that is below average. Glad I'm a fan. and glad you like the Orange Box, 87th, it's an incredible purchase. Keeps you occupied for ages.

I'm currently playing Assassin's Creed, lent to me by my brother's friend. I'm still unsure whether to purchase the game or not yet. It's fun and I like the exploration you get out of it. I don't get why people (mostly reviewers) bitched about the game. Okay, so it has a science fiction edge to it all, but so what? Does the storyline really effect their judgement of the game so much? A game should be reviewed as a game anyway, not a movie. It has decent cinematics, but the camera is a pain during those moments, since it's too far away from the expressions on the character's faces. I know there's a 'glitch' where it lets the camera zoom in, but it's only limited. To be involved in a story, I have to see what the actual reactions of the characters are, instead of having this birds eye viewpoint throughout. Aside from that nag, the story is fine, the gameplay is fun and action packed, so far.

I also played Kane & Lynch a couple of weeks back, was very average. The storyline is practically a rip off of Max Payne (I don't just mean the revenge part, I mean, the whole deal), the gameplay evolves from being like Hitman, to being more like Freedom Fighters in the latter half (both of which are Eidos games).

I did notice frame rate drops in Episodes I and II, but nothing that should deter people from picking up the game if it's their only option.

I recently finished Uncharted. A short but very good game, with maybe the best visuals I've seen on a console title. I was also impressed with the characterization and facial animation during the cutscenes.

The last game I finished was Captain Commando on the Capcom Classic Collection on ps2. My 9 year old niece is always bugging me to play that game.

Just finished the Subsistence version of MetalGear for the first time. I've only completed the MSX version once before, and I didn't think much of it at the time. Playing it again, I'm actually much more fond of the game now (though the increased speed, and new translation may have helped). Takes a while to get into it, but I really enjoyed it once I did.

I'm playing around with Boss Survival mode, now. A nice touch, but pretty pointless considering how boring most of the bosses are.

Just been playing Mass Effect...wow, what can I say? The interactive elements in this game are lifted straight from Jade Empire and KOTOR, but I found those games boring, since there was very little in the way of actual gameplay. In Mass Effect you get fugging tough battles and awesome character designs inspired by many classic science fiction movies. The music is almost worthy of Vangelis himself (which it is mostly inspired by, as well as John Williams and other legendary composers that have worked on a popular sci-fi film), simply awesome score. There are unique characters all over the place, but I especially like Urdnot Wrex, a titanic alien with very little patience indeed, one guy you don't want to cross paths with (as you can either choose to have him on your side; it's wise that you do).

The main storyline is basic sci-fi, with some nice twists and turns incorporated very well in there (like a certain character death very early on, which I did not expect...), as well as the fact that the world you are in is so detailed, using a system called 'codex' where you can view information on all of the alien races, the wars that have preceded the events of the game. This system of information reminded me of Snatcher, and its Jordan database; very detailed and articulately crafted world you can immerse yourself into, makes this game one of the very best games I've ever played.

I am, so far, really enjoying this game; could enter my top 5 if it keeps up the level of brilliance it is projecting at the moment.

Wow, lots of new games. I'm still in the last generation. Right now I'm playing Deja Vu (nes), SDsnatcher, Illusion City (MSX), Ico(PS2), Resident Evil 4 (ps2), and Gargoyle's Quest 2 (nes). I've recently beaten Zone of the Enders 2 and Symphony of the Night. BTW, anyone else here played Ico, it's pretty hard, and I'm kinda stuck right now.
