Some assistance required for downgrading.

I'm not sure if this kind of talk is permitted on the forums, but I've been hoping to downgrade my PSP in order to get PicoDrive working. Not only that, but also some kind of PSX emulator or something to that degree. I know very little about the homebrew "scene", so I would like some simple instructions if that's okay. Okay, first of all let me run down the current specifications of my PSP:

It's a non-slim white PSP, with the current firmware at 3.71. I'd like to know if there's any chance of downgrading to something that'll allow me to use either PicoDrive or a PSX emulator. I've heard of Pandora's Battery, but apparently that involves another PSP, which I don't have access to at the moment.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pandora's Battery doesn't require a second PSP. Only a second Memory Stick and Battery are required. I think it's even possible to downgrade with Pandora's Battery, even if you only have a single battery/memory stick, but it's a little more complicated. You should search for "Pandora's Battery" on YouTube and try following one of the many tutorial videos.
If you can downgrade to 1.50, it should be easy from there on in. I recently downgraded my 3.52 M33 to 1.50 then upgraded a couple times from that. I'm now running 3.80 M33-4. If you have any speciffic problems with the process, feel free to ask.

What are all these "M33" suffixes that I keep hearing about? I don't have that, I've just got 3.71. No "M33", "M34" or what-have-you.

M33 is one of the custom firmware teams. They add the suffix to each of their releases.
