Metal Gear Solid 3 - Subsistence QUESTION ?!?!?!?!?

Hi,

I got MGS3 yesterday and I'm finding it very hard to play due to the weird radar compared with other MGS games. Is there a way to have it so that I can clearly see where the enemies are moving and their field of vision as per the previous games? If not, how do I accurately spot enemies? I keep getting spotted by them because I can't figure out the radar!

Thanks,

Nope, CODEC wasn't invented until the late 90's. The best you can do is stalk, be patient, observe your surroundings, and be stealthy.

If you're playing on normal difficulty or easier you should have that sound-emitting sonar thingy, an AP sensor and the sensor that registers movements in your surroundings, if I recall correctly.

Is that kind of like the radar in Portable Ops? I thought that was kind of hard to get used to at first, but I also think that it helps immerse you in the sneaky side of things.

As I haven't played Protable Ops, I can't say...but they're probably similar to each other. I liked the radar in MGS3 more than the codec, it makes the sneaking a bit more strategic I think.

No it's not the same as in MPO but as Cyan said it's similar.

In MGS3 if you use Sonar radar, you must press the R3 button down and it sends somekind of electronic wave to your surroundings and you can see all sound emiting things as dot's in your radar. But remember that these thing might not be just enemy soldiers, they could be animals or anything. And yes, there is lot's of animals present in the game, frogs, snakes, fishes, rabbits and so on. And they all show up in the radar.

In MPO the sound radar is different... firstly it's on all the time and cannot turned off. The MPO radar doesn't show you the exact location of enemies, but more like the direction where sound is coming and if it's far or near by.

If you have subsistence then you should be able to use the new camera. Rotate the camera around so you get a good view of your surroundings. Also don't forget that in this game the guards are sensitive to sound so they are harder to sneak up on.
