Voice for Ocelot MGS4

Which would you guys rather have do the voice for Liquid Ocelot? Cam Clarke (Liquid) or Patrick Zimmerman (Ocelot)? I personally think that Cam Clarke is a better voice actor, but that's just my opinion. As to which voice would fit the character of Liquid Ocelot, I think that either one would work since they can both change their voices to fit whatever characters. Anyway, I think it would be interesting to hear everybody's opinion.

I'd rather have Patrick Zimmerman, since it's his body, but I the focus is on Snake vs Liquid rather than Snake vs Ocelot, so I suppose it would make sense to have Cam Clarke (especially since he voiced Ocelot's Liquid persona in MGS2).

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, and apparently, in Japan, the guy who voiced Ocelot was going to return and do his character again, but he died before he had a chance. I guess we're actually doing what the "original" plan was, but I still would like to hear Cam Clarke return for the final showdown (he won't even be in the game at all).

I think Kojima has dug himself a hole with that 'talking arm' thing anyhow. I have no idea how he's going to 'explain' such a plotline. He'll probably choose the easy option by saying Ocelot was 'tricking' everybody... again. #-o
And yeah, I like Cam's voice more, but Pat's good too.

I read an interview with Hideo Kojima in EDGE yesterday (I can probably arrange something if any of you are interested in reading it) where he said that he had regretted including plot elements like Les Enfants Terribles in MetalGear. He's often just trying to get players excited about a boss fight in the crazier cutscenes, and it's only when he's asked to explain it in a way that makes sense in the games that he regrets incorporating them.

I agree that this point was the one that alienated me the most in MGS2. It really made me pause when playing and question the thing, it is way over the top.
But MGS3 provided with a simple answer for this.. Ocelot is the son of The Sorrow. He could simply be channeling him, or any pseudo-scientific explanation would do since you already had a character like that.

Wow, I didn't find it alienating at all. I just figured it was another crazy idea from Kojima. It's not really all that much more crazy than Vamp, Fortune, and the other freaks in the metal gear games. I think it's over-the-top, but I didn't find it that horrible (actually I think that Liquid is a really cool character, and I appreciated the comeback).
Anyway, 87th, could you maybe provide a link to the article or something of the sort. I would really like to read that.

It's a magazine article, but I'll try and get it scanned tomorrow night.

Hideo Kojima wrote:Looking back now at Metal Gear Solid, I probably wouldn’t have introduced clones or anything. But, as I continued the series, I always had to think about bosses – who would be stronger than the previous boss, or Snake himself? And if you want to beat Snake, it really has to be a clone or something, and that’s quite an old concept.
“Like in Ultraman, the ultimate boss will be a clone of Ultraman, stronger than Ultraman. And in Spider-Man, the ultimate enemy is Venom. I’m regretting now that MGS4 had to end that way; if I’d had the whole series in mind from the start, I probably wouldn’t have set that theme.”

I think that the explanation that MGS4 offered is in the end even more simple than that, and a clever one.

I'm playing through the Japanese version right now, and I prefer hearing Liquid's voice. Especially since you hear his voice in MGS2. I know Kojima planned for it to be Ocelot's voice, but the way things turned out...I prefer this. No disrespect to the late actor intended.
I imagine it to be Ocelot doing an imitation of Liquid's voice, so I don't think it violates the laws of physical reality.

So the original plan was to have Ocelot's voice in both versions, then? (I didn't follow news or interviews on MGS4.)
