I'm looking for some advice about MPO

So, I've started playing the Metal Gear games in chronological order. I just got done with MGS3 and I was about start MPO, but I've heard very bad things about it(Bad controls and camera, team building aspect ruins the game and so on). Now, I don't trust mainstream game sites. And I REALLY DON'T when it comes to MGS! So I'd like to ask the opinions of some people whose tastes I generally trust: should I play MPO or just read a plot summery before moving on to Metal Gear?

I don't like it anywhere near as much as the other titles in the main MetalGear series, but it's still a good PSP Stealth/Action title that's worth playing. A large part of the reason I didn't like it so much is the presentation of the cutscenes, and how irrelevant most of the plot is to the series. Some of the bigger events in the plot are quite ludicrous. The controls aren't fantastic, but for the most part, they work. There is a fight against a psychic boss, whom you have to change your control set-up to defeat. I thought that section was particularly clumsy and only revealed how poorly the controls were adapted for the PSP.

I'd say that MPO is easily the worst canon MG game, but it's the second-best non-canon title (Ghost Babel being the best).

Wait, which psychic boss? I never had to change my control config to beat the game.

And definitely play it. It's fun.

Spoiler:
You can beat the Elisa/Ursula-controlled RAXA by changing the controls, so she won't be able to read your mind anymore.

I never had trouble with that boss. You don't need to change your config to win, it's still an easy fight regardless.

I say you play it. I Loved it, especially the online. The team building aspect didn't ruin a thing. It was an awesome game and has some key story aspects that cannot be missed.

Yes I agree, no need to change the configuration. I found no problems with is. Besides the PSP having only one joystick of course, but I could live with that.
