What's it worth?

Do you have an item and wonder how much it's worth? Wonder how much you should pay for something? Ask it here!

Please be *VERY* specific. Tell us condition, region (e.g. JPN release, PAL), sealed/used, etc.

Ok, I'm actually wondering what the going rate for a sealed PAL UK verion MGS might be worth. I only have 2 PAL games so I'm not quite familiar with their going rates on the auctions sites. I found a possible private sale so I'm trying to come up with a fair offer.

How much would you say the following MGS Gold Premium Packages are worth:
  • Sealed and in very good condition.
  • Unslealed box but very good condition with most of the contents sealed.
  • Battered to a pulp box, but contents in very good condition, mostly sealed.
How much would I be looking at to purchase the MGS2 Black & White Ultimate Sorters in good condition/hopefully unused. That's a theoretical question of course because I doubt I'll ever find any! lol.

And finally, how much are the original MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake worth? (in as good as condition as you can hope to get them of course).

Cheers for another good thread mate.

Gold premium package - hard to say. One thing in your favor, alot of the top spending collectors I know already have it.

Open contents: $300, Open box, sealed contents: $400, Completely sealed $600-800 (depending on condition, the box is VERY fragile to denting).

Yahoo Japan you'll get it cheaper, about 2/3 the price but will incur fees. The prices above are what I think they'd go for on ebay.

As far as the Ultimate Sorters...I actually do know where you can buy a black one. PM me, but it's REALLY expensive (it's open, and more than I paid for mine). The white is hard to price as well, and as I haven't seen it close in the past few months I don't want to put an inaccurate number.

MSX Metal Gear - $300
MSX Metal Gear 2 - $400

Again, all these prices can have fluctuations. I've seen MG2 close between $325 and over $500 recently so I get my prices on what I believe is market avg.

That's great thanks for the info man, it gives me a good indication as to what i should be bidding on such items now, before I could see myself paying stupid money for these things, now I'll hopefully be more thrifty!

Open?

$100 seems fair. If the bonus MGS Saga DVD is included maybe $125.

Sealed is just over double. It's actually starting to become quite rare now. In a year or so you'll almost never see a sealed one posted.

THANKS

I dont know why but I really wanna have that mgs3S le but for some reason I am getting closer and closer to handing over 130 for an one opened. Am i crazy? I am just seeing from several sites including ebay that these things are going for higher. I dont wanna mention the site until i go ahead and order to limit my competition soryy guys.

Do you think that their is ever a chance this thing might lose value of say a time period of 6months? Or will it be like twin snakes and shoot up even higher?

I just absolutely hate buying sometimes because the next day you will see the same item for cheaper.

I think the value will be steady until xmas.

Long term - an open copy will never be worth more than $100 in my opinion.

Sealed I bet next year it'll consistently hit the $300 mark.

Violent snake, any chance you could give me a "What's it worth" on those MGS3 posters you had a week or so ago?

Heh, it's hard to say as they're so rare.

Broken down:

The Shinkawa poster, the most common of the three. Likely pretty cheap on Yahoo japan as I see if often. You should be able to get it after fees and with shipping for $50.

The "First Bite" promo poster, never seen it for sale,. It's not that great I'd say maybe $30-40 plus fees/shipping.

The Eva poster, again I've never seen it for sale. Probably gained value after Big Mama's large role in MGS4 and in the whole storyline in general. It'd probably be a hot item if listed. I'd say just over $100 on ebay, maybe $50+fees on yahoo japan.

Again, this is just from what I've seen. I do watch posters quite a bit, so I have to compare with similiar items I've seen close. It's much easier to give a value if I've seen the actual item close heh.

Hi guys, it's non-Kojima but it's sort of related.

How much do you think this French release, English language pocket Electronic Snake's (inc. bad use of the apostraphe!) Revenge is worth?

I'm not sure mate to be honest, it's probably a worldwide release and he's folded the French instructions open.

A guy is asking 80 quid for it so I think I'll pass then! lol. I thought that was a bit high!

Keep passing heh. I boycott anything to do with Snake's Revenge. If Kojima didn't have a hand in it, I don't wanna go near it!

Unsealed PAL versions of the original MGS are not exactly rare on eBay. I'd pay up to £20-30 for one in mint condition. Sealed copies are different. I don't think I've ever seen a sealed PAL copy. I'd probably pay up to £100 for one.

Are Kubricks worth anything without their boxes? Do people consider the Kubrick boxes as part of the collectors item? Sorry I don't know much about Kubricks!

I'd personally say, the box is part of the collection... its like... part of the item.

Ok cool, but aren't all Kubrick boxes the same?

They are, except for the special ones like olive drab and the square camo one (and maybe others, I don't know :P) SO I'd say, as long as they are sealed, it doesn't take off much value without the box because you can still buy them later.

Gutted, I just missed out on the auction! lol. Nevermind, I'm sure they'll come up again at some point. Thanks for your help mate.
