Needed a new post for this so it can be easily referenced:

adding information is even easier... u just need to press "EDIT"
Can someone edit my pages or vice versa?
Do I have to know html well? I mean, I know some basics but I use a drag-n-drop program to make my site.
Yeah +1 to what TSi said mate, basically with our wiki, people only correct if there are errors that we know of. Or we know we can make something look or sound better. I.E. when someone decides they would like to turn a list into a table for example, or a spelling mistake etc.
In general, people are not nasty enough to go on there and purposely mess content up. So feel free to go on and edit/add away, it'd be great to have you on board, and same for everyone ele who could spare a little time. I got a full time job, but it really is so simple to add a little bit here and there, if everyone does that the pages start coming together.
My best advice to someone starting off is to click the "EDIT" tab on a piece of content you would like to mirror for a new piece of content you wish to write. You'll be presented with pretty much everything that you need to create that content. You just need to change the words! It's even easier if you just want to edit existing content. You just have to click the "EDIT" tab and edit to your hearts content!
A few handy bits:
This code gives you the nice section breaks you see in listings, when there are 3/4+ of these, a Table of Contents is automatically generated for you at the top of the page.
Code: Select all
<gallery>
Image:SubsistencePALCover.jpg|Cover
Image:SubsistencePALBack.jpg|Back
Image:SubsistencePALManualFront.jpg|Manual (Front)
Image:SubsistencePALManualBack.jpg|Manual (Back)
Image:SubsistencePALDisc1.jpg|Subsistence Disc
Image:SubsistencePALDisc2.jpg|Persistence Disc
Image:SubsistencePALDisc3.jpg|Existence Disc
</gallery>
This code gives you a thumbnail gallery. First you need to upload your image, which needs to be below 150kb in filesize, by using the "Upload" link on the left of the page. You'll be asked to browse for the file like normal, then it will give you the filename just underneath, use this filename to populate the gallery code above. The text after the "|" character should explain the graphic.
Code: Select all
[[Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence]]
This is an example of an INTERNAL link, when clicked on, this will go to the listing for whatever is written inside the "[[" "]]" characters, even if it doesn't exist yet. In this case, it will take the user to the content written about "Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence".
Code: Select all
[http://jonathanpthomas.com/shadowmoses/ Visit Shadow Moses: Metal Gear Realm]
Shameless plug! lol. This is an example of an external link. Use the "[" and "]" characters around your external URL, ensuring you use "http://". at the end of the URL, be sure to leave a space, you can then write what you would like the link to say. In this case it is "Visit Shadow Moses: Metal Gear Realm".
when you see lots of ' ' ' characters, don't be put off, it's just the wiki's way of making things
bold and
italic, it depends on the number around the words as to whether something is
bold,
italic or
both.
E.g.
3 x ' =
Bold
2 x ' =
italic and...
3+2= 5 x ' =
Both!
Remember that equal number of ''s have to go either side of the desired wording.
Hope that helps. If you need any more explanations, let me know and I'll try my best to help out.
