Metal Gear / Kojima Original Soundtracks

Hi guys, I'm setting up this thread to seperate the good from the bad. We all know there are some really bad rip off's these days.
I've posted a list of all the soundtracks I know of on the Junker wiki site:
http://wiki.junkerhq.net/index.php?titl ... oundtracks
Please feel free to edit and correct, I know there's a lot of stuff on there that is wrong! But it's at least a start!
Anyway, I set up this thread for people with soundtrack thought and questions and to avoid getting ripped off by non-legit copies of MG Soundtracks!
I just wanted to get your opinions on sound tracks in general and have a few questions to ask about these two CD's I've seen on eBay. Are they the official releases or are they unofficial? I know that Konami definitely released the CD's but are these genuine or ripped off? Also, I was also wondering if the third CD is an official release or not?
Cheers!

OST's are a bit of a headache. That's why I don't collect them. Plus it's rare to see a soundtrack worth any money. The only one I'm looking for is the MGS4 one in super jewel cd case (only the 1st printing came in those). It's common to find but I'm cheap
Definately a good idea for a thread though.
I'm really confused about that wiki site. I have no idea how something like that works or how to add/change anything.
The black and white sorters have different soundtracks btw, so you'll want to make sure both are listed.

Yeah I know what you're saying but I've aways been a huge fan of CDs and DVDs, I have considerable collections of each so it is a natural progression for me to collect MGS CDs and DVDs. I'm not really bothered about them being collectors items or worth anything really because "in general", CDs and DVDs aren't worth a lot anyway. I would like a complete collection of MGS CDs though.

It's really simple, search for an article you wanna write or read about. If it's there it will either give you a list to choose from, or it will directly bring up the article closest to your search depending on how many articles are related to your search criteria.
From there, you can use the "Edit" tab at the top to directly edit the whole page. Or use the "[edit]" links to edit a specific section of the page.
If you want to write a new article. Search for it then if it's not in the database then you will be asked "There is no page titled "****". You can
create this page." Use this link to create a new article.
The syntax is pretty simple but can be daunting at first glance. Your best bet is to copy and paste code from another article that you like the look of then re-jig it for your new article. Simple as that! If you have any questions ask in the "Wiki" thread, we'll all help out and don't worry about getting things wrong because someone will correct it eventually because that's how a wiki works!

Yeah I know mate, I've tried to avoid using wrong titles for the CDs so if I'm really not sure about the EXACT wording that appears on a CD, which I'm not in the case of the White sorter, I've left it out completely in the hope that someone else fills in the blanks!

Do you mean the picture is fake or that the CD itself was never produced by Konami?

Yeah I think micster is right, the first 2 look legit imo, but the third one really likes like a knockoff.

It is possible to tell through EBAY if you are getting the LEGIT item or not.
If the publishing company is MAYA or something like that, It's fake and a bootleg.
If the seller does NOT put down a publishing company, It's 99% fake.
If the seller does NOT give the serial # of the disc, It's 99% fake.

I feel the same my friend, I have always collected the soundtracks as abig part. Since I was on this from a while ago, I always got the official ones when the game was about to be released. I also got first printings of almost all (but the first). You can surely use Junker HQ to check that
http://junkerhq.net/kojima.html
I also do have all of the Snatcher and Policenauts soundtracks.

^ Exactly. Also SM (SonMay), Ever Anime, Smile Records and many others... an easy way to spot if a soundtrack is original or it isn't is the fact all the original ones got Konami/KP's logo on it.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help, Unfortunately, it's a little too late, unknowing they were bootleg, I bought three Miya MGS 2 + 3 CD's earlier in the year!
Oh well, looks like I'm in the hunt for some soundtracks again! lol. Anyone?!?!
Artemio, because the CD's I baught didn't have the KP or Konami logo's on there, that's why I put them under unofficial on the wiki site. I was a little confused! Apologies mate, I'll be sure to change them sometime soon.

heh i did the same mistake back in the times ;x btw here are some original ones ^_- as general 'rule' it's always recommended to buy OSTs from japanese sellers only, or other trustful resources
http://search.stores.ebay.it/Champ-des- ... 41QQsofpZ0
you can also notice cause original ones cost much more ><

lol, sometimes, if you think its a VERY VERY good price, its probably a bootleg...
thats why I was VERY VERY hesitant on buying the American MGS2 one, but then knowing it is a "american version", people from Asia wont bootleg it =P

Yeah you're probably right! lol
I think I've come up with a plan. Does anyone know if Soundtracks from Play-Asia or Yes-Asia (if they have them) are sealed? Their pictures look legit with Konami logo's on them so I'm guessing that could be my cheapest option as it's free shipping.
If they're not sealed it's not the end of the world, but if they were still sealed, I'd keep them like that and would continue listening to my Miya boots! The cover artwork is crap but to my ears the production quality is still second to none, I'm guessing it's a direct copy of the Konami anyway?

There most prob direct copies. My advice is just to never buy the soundtracks from eBay. Just use CDJapan, Play-asia and Yesasia for the official Japanese releases

+1 to that, anything in yesasia, play-asia is direct real copy... they wouldnt risk getting their a$$ sued!

Great stuff, anyone know if they are sealed? I know they most likely are but it's worth checking.

I am 99% sure that they are sealed. everything I get from yesasia are sealed, play-asia and cdjapan would probably be the same.

Superb, thanks mate. I was thinking about it and the chances of a Japanese CD coming brand new and unsealed are pretty slim because of the spine card anyway! Duh, stupid me!

Spine card... hmm... I thought the spine card would be IN the package... but someone correct me.

Nope they're almost always inside the seal, just folded (not stuck) around the jewel case mate. Well all my CD's I've ever bought from Japan have been like that unless someone else knows differently?

Yes they are sealed from play-asia, but you'll only get second printings these days from them. I usually only bought them directly from Amazon japan, pre-ordered months before the release. that's how I got mine, so you can be sure that the ones scanned on my page are legit.
