Thank God, something original.
I just played the demo, and it's looking to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen...not for the easily nauseated, though.
Thoughts?

I don't know...
Th demo looked ok and with some cool graphics but somehow it just didn't get me too interest about this game.
Propably the full version will be much better but let's see. I'm gonna most likely get the game after i find it cheaper, like 40€ or something.

I have the demo but I've been too busy playing Fallout 3 and now I just got Resistance 2 yesterday so I don't know if I'll ply it anytime soon. I'll get back and give my opinion as soon as I do.

I thought the demo was amazing. Simply because it reinvents first-person movement. I mean come on, why don't other FP-games have protagonists jumping off roofs and walls while trying to avoid gunfire?

I think the soundtrack also contributes vastly to this game. It's actually convinced me to break down and buy a "next-gen" consle. And honestly, who doesn't want to play as an acrobatic woman leaping from rooftop to rooftop as the world blurs by?

I'll be honest, I hate first-person perspective games. But I played the demo and was rather impressed. The whole leaping from building to building is a cool feature and the graphics are very good. The only bad thing I can think to say is that the combat system was so-so. Other than that, I liked what I saw and I may end up buying the game at some point.

You hate FPS games? That's a lot of games, that's tough man.

Just not my cup of tea. The only FPS game I really ever got into was the old Wolfenstein PC game. That and RE4, since that's pretty close to FPS.

Yeah, I couldn't live like that. Most of my game diet consists of FPS games. They are my specialty in fact.

good games are good games regardless of what genre they fit in.

True but everyone has preferences.

right, but to turn your back on a game because it isn't part of this or that genre is ridiculous.

Yeah, I'll play any game if it looks good but I am partial to FPS games, however my favorite games (MGS and SOCOM) are not FPS games.

I think not liking FPS games is pretty common (at least where I live). It's always the same, all action, no plot or good story to keep you going. I agree with you about RE4 being a great game ( if not one of the best games I've played).
Oh, and I just bought Mirror's Edge. To all you who are thinking about whether to buy or not to buy, I say GET IT (Unless you didn't like the demo). even though the combat IS a little average, it doesn't make the game any less good than it is. Been playing for a few hours and I gotta say, playing with a big screen and 5.1 speakers really makes you feel like you're inside the game, not just playing it.

Yea that is your initial thought, you've only been playing it for a few hours. Later it becomes repetitive and once you beat it, there is nothing else to do, except time trials and stuff.

I'm afraid you're wrong, friend. I just finished the game and now that I'm starting to be able to play properly it just gets me more excited. The thing about this game...you know, when you finish a difficult segment without dying AND making it look cool, you can't help but jump on your feet and shout "YEAH! Who's your daddy!?!?!?". Then you realize no one saw your spectacular virtual-acrobatic performance which you will probably never be able to do as fluidly again. Anyway, as you get better in the game, the more you want to play to see just how good you've gotten.
Oh, and the chapters in this game vary a lot in how you are able to navigate them, so at least for the first couple of playthroughs you'll be presented with a lot of different challenges of getting from point A to point B. Of course, if one gets easily bored then I wouldn't probably recommend playing this game. Still, games shouldn't be disposable products that you play through once and then leave to the shelf to collect dust. I think we should always try to get the most out of our games.

Getting the most out fo our games and beating the same missions over and over again are completely different things, but I see your point.
