Help needed on Policenauts since there's no FAQ yet

Post by RyuHayabusa »

Ok, I've been playing Policenauts for about 6 hours now and have run into a problem. I'm in the AMM space museum and I cannot go any further. I've talked to everyone, looked at every display, and done everything possible 10 times and cannot progress. I looked on Youtube and found that several things happen that I cannot replicate. For instance, there are cinemas when you talk to the tour guide in the yellow dress as well as the woman behind the desk. Also, eventually someone appears in a space suit in the space section. However, the cinemas with both women in the museum never happened for me. I've talked with them to the point where they say nothing new. Also, the guy in the spacesuit will not appear. I've been outside to look at the rockets and everything.

I can't help but think perhaps there's a problem with my ISOs, but the game has worked great up to now. I can't figure out why the cinemas never happened. Any ideas?

The tour guide close ups are exclusive to the Saturn version.

You've simply missed something, you have to look at everything throughout all rooms, so no one can help you there.

Thanks for the info. The video I watched on Youtube didn't mention it was the Saturn version. I figured out what I missed and have talked to the informant. Thanks again.

I ran into the same problem, basically I forgot to look at the gold plates inside the case in the planets section.

Hahaha, that tripped me up too. I actually thought maybe it was a bug in my patching when I first got there in development.

What's the correct order for the crests when attempting to access the disc on the T-Gear at the pharmacy? I looked at a playthrough of the Japanese version on youtube but the names are all different.

Check out the "manual" file included with the patch zip.

How do you beat the shooting section while trying to find the acid in AMM? I keep emptying clips into him and nothing happens.

Even if it may look like it, you can't hit him while he's taking cover behind the ladder. Move the cursor away and wait for him to jump out of cover.

How do you dodge civilian vehicles during the motorcycle chase? Every once in a while a truck appears in the middle lane, and Ed doesn't seem to know any better than to crash into it, thus draining a good chunk of health. Shooting at the trucks make them move out of the way, but I still lose health by doing so. The farthest I can go is the final shooting section, where I keep getting owned by the motorcycle bomber and the freaking trucks.

Try shooting just to the side of oncoming vehicles.

That's only in the PC98 and Saturn versions.

I'm sure everyone died on that part for their first time...

Though what's giving me trouble is the scene a little bit after that:
Spoiler:
After they leave the AMM, they find someone had tampered with their car which leads to a multi-part shooting sequence chasing a guy on a motorcycle. How do you avoid taking so much damage, and for that matter what do you do about the traffic? shooting em moves em outta the way but you still lose life for hitting them so I'm wondering is it either that or lose a fuckton of life getting hit by it?

Unless there's some other way I haven't figured out yet...
But other than that frustration atm I'm loving the game so far!
