Don't know if you guys have seen this yet.. Muni Shinobu is in the process of translating Kojima's MGS3 commentary. Beginning of Virtuous Mission to meeting up with Eva is what's done so far.

You can find it here: http://geocities.com/muni_shinobu/mgs3/commentary.html

Very good read.. can't wait for the rest of it.

But what commentary is it? From what? One of the books?

I think its from one of the books from the PP, the thicker one that has the entire script and the history to the Cold War and how MGS ties in

Could it by the commentary that's coming up in the extreme edition? I know it's not out yet, but maybe he got his hands on it somehow. Cause it does seem like a transcript of an audio commentary. Actually, i have no idea. All it says on the site is that it's his "cinema commentary".

Yeah, I just actually looked in that book and there is the script with Kojima's notes/commentary. I should imagine that is what it is.

It does sound like audio commentary though, i do agree, BUT i doubt he did get an early copy of that ever so amazing looking set, anyway, there is alot of interesting and very cool bits, though i still dont understand why somewords are still in Japenese

It's not the entire script but only certain scenes. Very little of it is the script actually, most of it is short essays.

What are the essays on, themes from the games?

When they were doing CQC combat, The Boss planted a bug on Snake, that is why the Ocelot Unit knows Snake's location.

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up, Kojima. I was never really sure how and when he got that transmitter on him.

There are several updates in the commentary now. He also revealed the source; Metal Gear Solid 3 Premium Package - Booklet "R"

Plenty of other interesting stuff too at the main site http://www.geocities.com/muni_shinobu/mg/index.html

About Chinaboy, one of the characters cut from MGS2: "He has a tattoo of a dragon on his body, which when underwater would come alive." Right now I'm thankful that got cut. Sounds more ridiculous than anything Vamp did. What is this, Metal Gear Zelda?

Yeah, that reminded me of the trailer I've seen. I don't plan to see it. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for R2 Daredevil Director's Cut to come out...

First person view here when Eva introduces herself! That's 峰不二子 Mine Fujiko (from ルパン三世 Lupin III)! Eros of the 60's. For 18 and above.
I'm a big time Lupin fan, but I wasn't quite sure what he meant here. Anyone know? I mean, I obviously know who Fujiko is and everything, but what does Eva have to do with her, what is Eros of the 60s, and what is for 18 and above? Anyone know?

Eros = love

18 and over = 18 rated

Go figure ;)

Que?

I understood that 18 and above implied something of a... profane nature. But... here.

If I were to say...

When Snake shakes the President's hand, first person view here. Bill Cosby!!! Eros of the 60s, 18 and above!

Now, we can assume Bill Cosby doesn't get involved in dirty 18+ plus stuff (as far as I know). And Bill Cosby isn't prominently featured in MGS3, correct?

So...

If Lupin III was a tad violent but never intended for an exclusive 18+ audience, and since Eva doesn't have brown hair, ginormous breasts and chronic backstabbing disorder, and she is the only female on screen at the time (as far as I know)...

What the hell is Kojima talking about?

Where is Fujiko, and if she doesn't appear in any form, why did he mention her name?

Outside of Eva's nipples in the X-ray shot near the end, there is nothing in this game that would constitute an 18+ rating, nor was there anything hentai-ish in the Lupin TV series (all three of them), Castle of Cagliostro, or any of the recent TV specials, which is the extent of my Lupin viewing. So what does 18+ mean in terms of this game?

Sorry to sound like an ass, but that wasnt the precise answer i was looking for :)

I think it was a tip of the hat to Lupin III's Fujiko, but a bit more of an adult version (maybe?). Kojima likes his movie refrences, so I'd probably guess this is what he meant.

You think it'd be common knowledge. But maybe a little common sense is necessary first.

I doubt it somehow. MGS3 is kinda yesterday's news now.

Then again, people are still working on translating policenauts, which is pretty much yesteryear's news. If people still care, it'll get done.
