Trouble saving a SD Snatcher game state...

Hello there,

I would like to play SD Snatcher on fMSX on Mac OS X, but I have a problem with this emulator.
I can "freeze" a game state, but when I want to "defrost" it, nothing happens.
I am having this problem with several versions of fMSX, and I also tried on other computers, with the same problem.
I don't understand this problem, am I the only one in this situation ?
I also contacted the developer of this software, he gave me a new (unreleased) version, but that didn't fix the problem, and he doesn't seem to have the time to fix it...

So, the solution would be to save with the in-game Save option of SD Snatcher, that brings me to a new problem...
The game asks for a Userdisk to save the game, I searched one, I tried creating one, but with no success, I didn't manage to find or create a .dsk file that I can use as a Userdisk with SD Snatcher.

Could anyone upload a usable userdisk please ? Or does anyone know a solution to save with fMSX, or know an other MSX emulator on Mac ?
(I tried openMSX, but I don't manage to configure it...)

Thanks a lot for your help. :)

fMSX is the lowest rated MSX emulator, so says Emulator Zone
http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/msx/

Your best bet would be to get bluemsx running on your Mac somehow, isn't there a version of wine for Mac OS X? :?

Or try and get openMSX working, I found this setup guide by searching for it in Google. Hope it is of some use.

I tried blueMSX with Wine to create a userdisk, but it freezes when starting the emulation...

I'm trying to setup openMSX, thank you for the manual.
Well I don't know if I'll manage to make it work, there's a lot of technical stuff to read and understand (and I'm French...).
I found a guide to use NekoLauncher with openMSX as well, but it only works with rom files, not disks...
Hyper-easy openMSX for Mac OS X
The french version of this guide

I'll try to setup openMSX to read disks then, thanks for your help.

Your welcome.

I did another Google search for your problem and I think I found something useful

I just found a guide someone made on getting SD snatcher to run on NekoLauncher OpenMSX with a MacOS
http://roushimsx.livejournal.com/127123.html

He even talks about how to load disks images, it's in English but it looks pretty easy to follow.

Thanks again !
It works just like magic ! :D Well, after spending some time configurating NekoLauncher...but it works perfectly !
I managed to create a userdisk, I can save and load, play the game fullscreen, and I don't have a shareware message poping up every 5 minutes like with fMSX...

Some Snatchers are waiting for me, thank you very much again, best name ever !

After the ports for the XBOX and Wii consoles, the Android, iOS and WebOS portable systems, the great blueMSX emulator has been ported to Mac OS X version 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and higher. CocoaMSX 1.0 is now available !

What are the features of this port ?
- support for over 200 MSX systems *
- built-in support for cartridge (ROM) files
- support for diskette (DSK) and cassette (CAS) files *
- support for MSX-Music, MSX-Audio, Moonsound, SCC and PSG sound systems
- various video effects, such as scanlines and signal noise simulation
- snapshots with previews in Finder
- support for MSX joysticks, joypads and mice
- flexible keyboard and input peripheral configuration
- screen capture
- audio capture
- full screen support, including multi-desktop mode full screen on Lion (10.7) and higher
- automatic updates

* Requires installation of additional machines as CocoaMSX comes only with the C-BIOS roms. However, you can find on the Resource page of the blueMSX website many generic and specific machines that can also be used with CocoaMSX. For generic machines, it’s recommended to download a full package with 31 generic MSX machines (including the Shared Roms sub-directory). Once you have an archive, unzip it in the emulator’s “Machines” directory, then restart the emulator. To find the location of the folder, open Preferences, click Show in Finder under the General tab.
