Hey everyone ! :D

So, I started developing on iPhone a few months ago, an here I come today with my first app for the Metal Gear community, an adaptation of the MGS2 Dog Tag Viewer.

It includes Dog Tags data from Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty and Substance, US and European versions.

You can easily keep track of the dog tags you get by checking them for each area of the game, I also added the possibility to check all dog tags of a level of difficulty if you are already advanced in your dog tag chase. :)

Here's some screenshots :

And here's the link to the app in the App Store.

This app is free for its release, for 4 days, then it will be $0,99, or 0,79€.

Don't hesitate to tell me what you think about it, and if you like it, feel free to rate it on the AppStore ! ;)

I hope some people will find it useful. :)

Wow, great work!

You should tweet this to Kojima (@Kojima_Hideo).

Keep the English simple and he should understand you.

Excellent! I just gave it a download. :)

Perhaps one could be done for The Twin Snakes?
And what about European Extreme difficulty?

Thanks ! :)

As far as I know, there is no dog tags in European Extreme difficulty.

I didn't think of The Twin Snakes ! I actually never played this game, but I do remember, now that you're talking about it, that there is dog tags in it...
It could be a good idea, I may do something about this...but do you unlock bonus items with dog tags in Twin Snake ?

I think you're right, but it may just use the ones from Extreme. I forget.

Bragging Rights and thats it.
No Stealth or Bandanna, as you get get those from each ending.
Could you imagine Snake wearing the Orange Wig?

I just tested to be sure, and I can confirm that there is absolutely no dog tags in European Extreme mode, the soldiers drop nothing when you "freeze" them and there is no European Extreme category in the Viewer.

Snake with a wig, that would be funny.
I'm glad they thought of the wigs for Raiden, I can't imagine him with a bandana ! (and it's always cool to make fun of Raiden)

Allways funny to make fun of the Bishonen.
The Brown Wig looks the manliest in my opinion, though.

I plan on picking up a copy of The Twin Snakes sometime so I'd be happy to do a couple playthroughs for Dog Tags. I don't think my PC could take another run on Dolphin.
Or you could find a list somewhere on the net, which is a more likely choice.

I found a Dog Tag list for the US version of The Twin Snakes, but I didn't find anything for the PAL version, maybe they're the same... :?

EDIT : The Lite version is now available.

It includes full features of the full version for the Dog Tags of Normal and Easy difficulties.
I guess it should be enough for some people to get the stealth camo and some infinite ammo. :)

Dog Tag Viewer Lite on the App Store.

I have another question.
--------------------
Does the Japanese (NTSC-J) version of Sons of Liberty and Substance have differnt Dog Tags from the NTSC-U/PAL version?
I'd assume so, but I just want to make sure.

I didn't find anything on the Japanese version, so I can't tell you for Sons of Liberty, but I don't think I'm wrong if I say that every versions of Substance contain the same list of dog tags (PAL and US are the same, so I assume they didn't make a new list just for the Japanese version).

Ah, Thanks!

I still wonder about Sons of Liberty (Japan).
The Japanese names in the US/EU versions are that of the Development Staff and Gackt, who appeared in a promotion for MGS2.

I also still wonder about the differnt versions of The Twin Snakes.
Perhaps they are all the same beacuse it was developed primarily in Canada?

Hi there, the 2.0 update is out, with The Twin Snakes' dog tags !
(There's indeed only one list of dog tags for this game.)

I also corrected some mistakes and deleted the ads from the full version.

You can download it here, I made it free for this week-end, for those who haven't got the app yet, enjoy !

Hello guys,

I'm happy to announce the first anniversary of the Dog Tag Viewer iPhone app.

On this occasion, I decided to make the app free for a few days, so enjoy it !

This app might be destined to a small audience (players of MGS2 or The Twin Snakes, who happen to have an iOS device, and want some help finding all the dog tags), but I'm pretty happy to say that over a thousand Metal Gear fans, from all parts of the globe, have downloaded this app in a year !

If you're an owner of an iPhone 5 or the new iPod touch, I'm thinking about you, and, although the app is currently perfectly usable on these devices, an update should be released soon (possibly this month) for the new 4-inch screens.

Thank you to all the Metal Gear community.

It's time to play Sons of Liberty again ! ;)
