MGS3- The Extreme Box Trailer

Might be the closest we'll get to a Document of MGS3, by the looks of things-
http://www.konami.jp/gs/game/mgs3/japan ... opics.html
The four discs are named, by the looks of things-
Disc 1 is The Extreme- A disc which covers the quickest and most effective way of beating the game.
Disc 2 is The Variation- A disc that seems to cover alternative ways to complete the game, which many fans may not have considered.
Disc 3 is The Intermission- This disc seems to have a more light hearted approach to it, and shows funny secrets of the game.
Disc 4 is The Lovers- This disc contains all the cutscenes from the game.

They're very different. The Extreme Box doesn't even include the game, for a start. It's almost a video-strategy guide. The Premium Pack is basically the best version of MGS3 available.

If you have to choose between the Premium Package and the Extreme Boxset i'd have to go with the Extreme Boxset. You could get the game separately and the books in the PP are in Japanese so if you can't read it you'll just be staring at the artwork. The only real exclusive in the PP is the Shagohod model and the DVD which has all the trailers and the test footage.

Well, you do get the exclusive boxart, too, but it's not anything to shout about.

Just received the box. It's rather nice. The Box is of white carboard, with the drawing of a bandana (it's a Snake! I can't see without glasses) on the front. It is covered by an orange and black obi, and opens by the side, and contains the booklet, dvd case and kubrik box as a slipcase.
The DVD case is rather nice, and has the four discs solidly held. I've not seen any yet (I am not even wearing my contacts after working all the weekend, can barely see), with a foldout panphlet that describes each. The Kubrik is simply inside the box in a plastic 2 part container, and the booklet is fully in japanese.
I hope to have images soon.

NO, everything is only fully Japanese. Just some menus are in english, as usual and expected. The commentary is just an audio track, while the subtitles are the from the game.
BTW, I watched the scene before fighting the Boss around 5 times.. and I enjoyed it everty single time.

I skimmed through all 4 discs last nite and I didn't see any secret theaters unless they're hidden somewhere.
Disc 1 is essentially like the MGS2 Metalworks Extreme DVD where it goes over every facet of the game to attain Foxhound rank.
Disc 2 shows some variations like using different weapons during boss battles.
Disc 3 has a bunch of fun stuff like the aforementioned Legacy of the Patriots. There's a mini game where you have to find a camouflaged Snake on a 9 square grid. Not sure if it unlocks anything because the game was getting to be a bore. There's a snapshot gallery with a bunch of wacky images but the most interesting section on the disc is where they go through every section of the game playing various music selections from the game. It is artistically directed and plays like a travel video. Oh, and there's 2 videos with the Snake Eater song so you can sing karaoke.
Disc 4 is the polygon demo disc. It seems some of the long winded parts are edited which kind of ruins it. One thing that sucks about it is it isn't anamorphic and it's not in Dolbly 5.1. The movie area is raised just like in the game to allow space for the subtitles which sucks because you can't at least zoom in for a widescreen presentation. Another thing is it's hard subbed. The audio quality on the commentary is horrible and sparse. It seems like the commentary was pieced together from various sources instead of Kojima & co. sitting down through the whole thing and making comments.
Overall it's a nice little package but it's not as good as I thought it would be.

I finished the Find Snake mini game on disc 3. As a reward you get access to a menu with maps and videos of all the kerotans. To get to the menu anytime after, goto the main menu and hit left, right & right on your dvd remote.

i already watch the 4 DVDs.........and are really good, but the LOVERS disc really disapoint me!!!!
why konami edit the story soo bad???

I thought it was disappointing, too. I can understand why the whole thing wasn't on the disc since it would negate some aspects of going back to the game to view the cinemas. But at least you'll be able to view them when Subsistence comes out unless you have a preference on language which hopefully won't end up being English for the Japanese version, but probably will. The video quality on the disc was pretty bad too. You would think with all the editing the video quality would be better.

Nope. Subsistence WILL BE in English, even in Japan. That's how Konami handles their updated versions of the MGS games in Japan.
Metal Gear Solid - Japanese dialogue and captions.
Metal Gear Solid: Integral - English dialogue with bilingual captions.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - Japanese dialogue and captions.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - English dialogue with bilingual captions.
Notice a pattern? Besides, the dialogue is the most space-consuming aspect of the MGS games. I doubt they have enough space for dual-language tracks.

As i believe it is because the Japenese like to hear the english versions in the re-release, it sounds daft but i believe its true

My wording sounds kinda befuddled, but what I meant was if you preferred the Japanese audio in MGS3 hopefully Subsistence will be in Japanese but it's not likely given the release history that you've demonstrated. But it sucks that all versions of Subsistence will be in English since I know alot of people here prefer the Japanese audio.

Buy the Japanese game, is the only advice offerable.
