Snatcher Movie Script

Hi, I'm new here.
I decided I wanted to make a movie based on Snatcher that followed the plot of the game as closely as possible. I really hate it when filmakers take a good game and butcher its familiar elements so much that it ends up sucking- just look at Super Mario Bros. That's why I used a lot of dialogue taken straight from the game in my script. Read it and tell me what you think.

Ok one thing first, Super Mario Brothers was great. Now i got that out of the picture...
Its awsome that you made a screenplay but its too close to the actual game, it would be nice if some one made a movie but used a new script that was made in respect to the game.
By the way, how long did it take to make that, that must have been a shite load of typing?

Well, I didn't think SMB (the movie) was too hot. That icky Yoshi just turned me off (thankfully he was only onscreen for a few seconds), and Luigi didn't have a mustache. But credit must be given to Bob Hoskins for completely eliminating his cockney accent to sound straight-up American, just like he did in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
The reason a lot of dialogue is taken straight from the game is because "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The game's dialogue is fine, and it's not like this movie is going to end up in theaters or something. It's me and my friends with a video camera.
What I've posted so far of the script took me a week to type. I know, I know, I should have done twice as much as what I've done so far, but I'm lazy.

Your gona do your own movie with a bunch of friends? That would be hard as hell.

Nah, don't think so. Wait, did you say "hard"? Yeah, it'll be hard. We'll have to contract the military to build us a turbocycle, and we'll need to slice a dog open without letting the authorities find out, among other things. But otherwise, it'll be a breeze.

A pretty cool thing going on now, or at least i think... is the blade runner chronicles internet series. Looks coool, its being done by some die hard fans (not bruce willis)

Well, good luck to them. Hopefully my movie will turn out better then theirs, though.

They have some proffesional 3d artists and from what ive seen so far, it looks amazing, they realy captured the blade runner world, and if you can do that with snatcher then I cant wait to see it.

I'll sure try. It'll be pretty damn hard, though.

It's nice, but if I made a movie of Snatcher I'd cut out all the little unnecessary side stuff like the fortune teller and pizza guy. Otherwise, nice work.

No way, that would be such a great scene, if the movie some how slipped neo kobe pizza into it and only the people who played the game would understand, kinda like tarantino and red apple ciggarets and big kahuna burgers, and stuff that people would only understand certain jokes in the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy.

One thing you guys could do to help, though, would be to donate some cuts off of Snatcher soundtracks. I need some official Snatcher music to pull this movie off, and I only have a handful of tracks to work with right now- I don't own a single Snatcher OST. I'm not paying 60 bucks on eBay for Snatcher Zoom Tracks, even though it would be well worth it. I'm on a tight budget; the tracks I currently have were originally MIDIs that I spiced up.

Sorry, dont have anything to give ya, but by any chance have you ever thought of any ideas for a sequel or something new?

Naw...a sequel could never do a game this great any justice.

Goddamit not another one, come on man theres no harm from a sequel, there will always be a the original nothing can ruin that. Nothing.

I don't wanna write a sequel for two reasons: 1) Too much work and 2) It will never live up to the original and probably degrade it in the process.

Not an entire script but a story to base the premice on, like the beggining story in snatcher not a detailed movie.

Is this just a transcript of the game then...?

by 8bitsonic
Sort of...it's a transcript adapted as a screenplay. About 25% of the writing is new, however, to make the story flow better. Like I rewrote some parts to eliminate Plato's Cavern completely, as I thought Gillian and Metal's going there would slow down the story. I might put it in, though.

Well, if you're going to do it in a movie script format, do it properly, you silly little moth, you. There are books telling you how to lay screenplays out. You might want to read them, yours is a bit of a mess.

F***ing LA snob  ...have you read this entire topic? It's me and my friends with a camcorder, I'm not buying any books on how to write screenplays. If this were to end up in theaters, yes, I would do it properly, but since it's a very low budget production, then no.

Oh right, yeah, of course. Forgot about that. Doesn't look very professional, but if it's just you and some mates mucking about then it's hardly important. There was no need to crank out the asterisks, though!
And you didn't have to go and insult LA, either... If I wasn't a fictional character, I'd snap your eyes off!

yea... ok, by any chance 8bit do you have anybody thats skilled at computer designs or even animation design like anime?

I might...I've got a lot of computer friends and if I can't find any, I've got someone to refer me to some. Chances are I'll need quite a bit of CGI for this project...I bet me or one of my chums could churn up some simple graphics. Or if worse comes to worst, I could just "borrow" the graphics from the PSX/Saturn versions of the game, since they're the most modern looking.
