I found this page on the Japanese Kojima Productions page- http://www.konami.jp/gs/kojima_pro/japa ... rages.html
Seems to say when speciffic magazines come out and their relation to Kojima Productions. The 27th seems to be an important date, but I can't figure out what it means, using Babelfish. Something about revealing the future of MGS, or a game outside of the MetalGear series being revealed? Can somebody please clear this up, for me?

It says something like:

小島プロダクション、始動!…まだ見ぬ「MGS」の未来へ。

Kojima Productions begins! You have not seen MGS's future (direction?) yet.

Or so I believe =P

I got the issue of Famitsu today.

It has a page on MGS4, two on Subsistence, two and Acid 2, and two pages of interviews with Kojima about MGS4, Subsistence, Acid 2, and Kojima Productions.

Just some notes:

-It appears the cloaked woman is Naomi.
-Acid 2 will have twice the cards as the first.
-Subsistence will have a first person mode like MGS Integral. They tweaked it so that people who suffer from motion sickness won't get sick from it.
It will also have new Ape Escape levels, above the 2 from the European version, and Normal and Special versions in Duel Mode.
For online, you have to unlock Snake to play as him (skilled players only).

I translated the MGS4 interview because someone asked me to:

Q: So you've announced the newest game in the Metal Gear Solid series.
K: Well, all we've said so far is "We're going to make it." It'll be for a next-gen console, but we don't know which one yet. All we have is the artwork Yoji's drawn.

Q: We didn't think you'd announce it so soon.
K: When MGS3 was released in Europe, I was interviewed by the press there, and I said "For my next game, I'm going to focus solely on producing." It looks like I was misinterpreted. People started saying, "Kojima's only going to act as producer for the next MGS game." However, I'd been saying all along I was going to work on the next title in the same capacity as I've done with the previous games. (smiles)

Q: Interesting. So when will you release more info on the game?
K: We haven't decided yet. But the illustration that's been released is full of hints, so please study it carefully. The next game takes place in the future. (smiles) It'll be an infiltration in a totally different place never before seen in the series, so take this as a hint and use your imagination. (smiles)

Next week will be info in the magazine Dengeki PS, but those one line blurbs on Konami's site don't really say anything of substance, they just mention MGS3SS and A2, and KP and the future of MGS. There might be some new MGS4 info, though, who knows.

I liked the way that Konami said "and more of the popular Snake vs. Monkey levels!"

They're not really that popular are they? They're pretty weak, as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, Kojima, yeah. Nice try.

Hmm, I wonder what kind of hints there may be. I already have that image as desktop, so I'll have plenty of time to find them.

What do you think, could be the new setting a prison camp? Like a lager of sort established by a new dictatorship? I don't know why I thought of this, but I remember "The Great Escape" to be one of Kojima's all time favorite.

I remember hearing a space theory along time ago.

What if the next game takes place in space, or more specifically, Beyond Coast? Considering that they're making a big deal about the setting in the new game, a space setting is really the only thing they haven't done. If MGS4 will take place a year after the events of MGS2, that would place in the year 2010, the year when Beyond Coast was first launched. It would tie neatly to Policenauts.

Well, the desert, a glass building and an underwatercomplex seem like popular choices, too.

If you want to get technical, the MSX Metal Gear was set in a desert in its outdoors areas.

Wait a minute, Kojima never said he wouldn't direct MGS4? Is he just trying to pull the wool over our eyes or what? He wasn't even going to direct MGS3 and now he expects us to believe he was going to direct MGS4 all along.

I think he just wants to sound a little less scatterbrained than he actually is.

Totally,

And not to mention the fact that embedded on the MGS4 artwork poster is apollo mission and retrieval names, and there are tons of chemistry equations I am familier with equating to the space and time roots, and Greek gods and shit, which could also be constalations.(marc is currently solving these equations with a friend thankfully.)

I recall the space theory for MGS3 as well. I guess it came out because of The Fury's costume design. I figured since the game was taking up the whole 60's theme (with the space race being an integral part of the era) and since the game was going with the Bond-esque style, the game would go all Moonraker on us. Hell, it's Kojima. He could've done shit stranger than that. But he didn't and I was relieved. Don't bring the theory back to mind with MGS4. I just can't imagine how a game in space would work well, even with Kojima at the helm creating it.
