Only a thousand were sold according to Blaustein. There's an interview around this site, you should look for it.

Geez, that bad?? It's funny how a few people I knew with a Sega CD had Snatcher, it seemed to be everywhere for a low-selling game.

I think it sold much better in Europe, it was widely considered one of the best Mega CD games over here.

and what about the Mega Cd sales?
I know that Mega Drive in Europe sold much more than SNES but what about the Mega CD and 32X?

It also was considered so at the US and Mexico, problem was that not much people had a Sega CD and Snatcher was a late release for the system (last quarter 1994). Probably the factor that it had been in america since 1992 with just a few great games, and in Europe it was released during april 1993 (almost a year later) may have influenced the market.

Only a thousand copies were sold? Jeezum. If I remember correctly, and don't take my word on this, there were 250,000 copies manufactured. I don't know if that's for the US and Europe combined, or what. Still, if you consider the amount of Sega CDs that people had at the time, it wasn't that bad a sell. They could have done much better, and much worse. Sadly, if Konami was smart enough to release it at the same time as the PC-Engine version in late '92, they undoubtebly would have sold out their first pressrun, as Sonic CD had not come out yet, and people were desperate for great games to play on their $300 add-on.

The Sega CD Snatcher was made AFTER the PC-Engine version (it was essentially a port). There's no way they would've released it simultaneously.

IIRC, Konami had plans to release Snatcher for the TurboDuo in the US (it was showcased in the CES at least), but due to TTI's withdrawal in the US market, it was never released here. This is probably why they did a Sega CD port in the first place.
