Is there anything from the first two games I haven't seen?

I'm a really big fan of the original two MG games (especially no.2), and I was really happy when I was shown the Japanese MG2:SS ads with the MetalGear D resin. Is there anything else that I wouldn't have seen. So far, I've seen-

Pretty much everything in both games
All the Instruction Book artwork
The NES, Famicom, Amiga, C64 and PC versions of MG1
The homebrew port of MG2 for DreamCast
The Mobile Phone ports
All the new radio faces in MG2
The new Shinkawa Snake illustration
The MetalGear D resin model
The novel (European and American)
The UK advert for the NES version of MG
Kojima Red

There's also a few things that aren't directly connected to MG1+2 that I've seen and liked, like the MG2 style illustrations of the Shagohod and MetalGear REX. Of course, I've watched both Escape movies, too.

I've only got one MetalGear artbook (The art of MetalGear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty), so there's probably a few things in those that I haven't seen.

Even well-done fanart will probably satisfy me. If you can show me anything cool connected to the games, I'll be quite happy.

Oh, and on JunkerHQ, MetalGear Solid naked is listed as a book about "Classic MetalGear". How connected to the first two games is it, and is it worth buying if you can't read Japanese?

Well it isn't really isn't a "Classic Metal Gear" book as it mainly covers the MGS games. There are plot summaries of each of the MG games prior to MGS3 (excluding MGGB), with comments detailing each game's themes (MG1 = Cold War, MG2 = Energy Crisis) and gameplay, but nothing too special.

The majority of the book is comprised of various essays and articles written by different authors (including NGai Croal and Masahiro Sakurai to name a few), as well as long biography of Hideo Kojima (covering his pre-career life) and a Japanese-translated/extended version of the article "Hideo Kojima at the Movies". It's a good book, but don't expect to be the "Official handbook to the Metal Gear universe" or something like that like I did.

I did, thanks.

At the moment I'm looking through scans of The Art of MetalGear Solid as some of the early Snake ideas look a bit like a Shinkawa take on MetalGear 1+2.

I'm hoping to find some stuff like that in one of those Famicom shops in Akihabara around Christmas time (I know I shouldn't buy stuff for myself, at that time, but I can't resist)

Yeah, there were actually two strategy guides published in Japan for the Famicom Metal Gear. One published by Konami and the other by Tokuma Shoten. That's the Tokuma version, the Metal Gear "Hisshou Kanpeki Hon" (roughly translates to "Guide to Certain Flawless Victory").

Here's the Konami version. That one was titled "Hisshouhou Manual".

The Konami version's cool and all, but not quite as unique as the Tokuma version.

I know I'm going to go completely nuts in the Famicom shops and all, but I really need to get a job over there first (I'll be eating nothing but Ramen and Breakfast Cereal until then.)

One store I went to plays a continuous loop of midis from famous games (Mario, Castlevania, Sonic, etc.).

Where is this DC port of MG2 you speak of? Can I have some links? Is it on DC emulation? Or, due it's nature, is it not allowed to provide me links?

I've only got my disc to work a couple of times, my DreamCast usually crashes loading the rom. I might try it again, now I know a bit more about the MSX and Emulation. I made an alternate cover to match my European Dreamcast games, which I personally, prefer. It uses the Shinkawa artwork, instead of the old 1990 artwork.
It actually includes MetalGear 1 and Parodius on the disc, too, but MG2 takes center-stage.

Works every time for me, make sure you set it to konami5 for Metal Gear 2 and Basic Konami for Metal Gear.

I'll give it another shot before bed, but having both games on my PSP does me fine, now.
