Heylo everyone!

Heres the deal, im having a problem with the sound on my new computer...could be the speakers, could be the pc....only thing that I know is that when ever I play Sega emulator the sounds is constantly crackling.....nonstop and its ruining the gameplay so much that I cant even play a game.

And as it turns out, Ive just aquired a way in which to play any sega cd game i desire, but the sound just screws it over.

Help.....

I believe you should begin by changing the emulator's sound options. Like lowering the sample rate and quality in general to see if that is the problem.

If nothing in that area helps, check out the CPU load while this is happening, in the task manager. If it is high, you should probably add a sound card to the machine,a pci one. I believe this happens a lot when you have inboard audio. You can also try changing the sound drivers of the board you are currently using.

Without more info I cannot give more specific ideas, take care!

The default sample rate setting in Gens is too low for Sega CD games. You have to crank it up all the way and then it's pretty much perfect. You shouldn't see any difference in the gameplay speed or anything unless you're running on an extremely low-end computer.

Or if the sound board is eating up the CPU or has an IRQ problem, both things common on inboard sound cards that do all by software.

ARRRRGGGHHH....now im just getting mad. I really wanna play Space Adventure Cobra......but this damn thing.

Ok so you think i should update my sound card...I hope thats not the problem, cause this is a new pc and all.

I also have everything to the max......nothing.

Im gonna go try again........

I only believe you should update either your drivers and check whether it is in-board audio or an audio board. Also, you should check if it is eating up a lot of cpu...

How do I check that?

As I stated earlier, open the task manager and monitor the % of cpu being used with the emu.

And about checking the type of audio board, well, you either need to know the machine, open it up, check with the documentation of the dealer or person that built it, check the type of device in the device manager and/or check the version of the drivers and manufacturer in the device manager.

Is the sound messed up with everything or just Gens?

Maybe the emulator is incompatible with your sound card. I've heard stories about that happening.

The cpu usage goes pretty high when the emulator is on, It like boosts up to 30 and 40.

Most probably you have an integrated audio card in the mother board, are the connectors of the speakers and mic in a slot at the bottom of tehe machine, or just next to the keyboard and mouse?

the speakers are connected into the three parts at the bottom of the screen.

I assume it is a production model by some company... and that the monitor is tehn integrated with the machine... do you have the model and provider?

Its also doing the same thing with my BladeRunner game.....so now im pissed off. Something or someone is trying to prevent me from playing my favorite games on this computer....

As I told you, it is probably the in board audio card, you can simply buy a new one at a hardware store and have it installed by the staff, or install it yourself. It is very easy if your machine has the free slots. Anyway, only with more infor we'd be able to help.
