I downloaded it there, which took all day.
Ufortunately, there is no music when playing the game! I made some research, and it seems the folder called "Vox" where the music supposedly would be doesn't exist. Is there someone who could help me with this?

I don't think there`s any speaker support in this version of the game, though it`s been a while since I tried playing it. You say it took you all day to download? The file fits on a floppy disc- are you downloading the right file?

thanks for the link. I wonder if its possible to find a real copy some where?

Oh well. It would be nice if the sound worked.

I'd be surprised if there are more than 500 copies of PC Metal Gear in a condition above recognisable in the world, today. I've never seen a box scan.

There was one on ebay a couple of years ago...

And I happen to know the buyer. and he posted the images here at Junker HQ a while ago:

Whoops, really sorry. I misunderstood it and thought you meant the PC Version of Metal Gear Solid.

Oops! Looks like I had seen it before. It's quite easy to get mixed up with the MSX and NES versions, though.

If anyone's interested MobyGames has a fairly expansive gallery of box scans. Yje galley's available here- http://www.mobygames.com/game/metal-gear/cover-art
One page claims this is a Japanese version of the game, but the date "1988" and "CAPCOM" name has made me doubtful- http://www.mobygames.com/game/metal-gea ... rId,47968/

That's actually "Hitler no Fukkatsu", the Japanese version of Bionic Commando.

That floppy disk is so beautifal. Too bad the port was pretty sub-par, but meh.

Like most PC ports are...Konami should just stick to consoles (shoving all microcomputers under console is a bit crude, but you understand my meaning)

I never saw those box scans before, quite interesting. Especially that article about Michael Biehn and the Metal Gear boxcover made me smile since it's rather stupid, I know absolutely no-one that ever recognized Michael Biehn in that picture. (not in 1987 anyway). I actually baffled a collegue just last year with the Kyle Reese / Snake side-by-side picture, and he owns (like me) Metal Gear and MG2: Solid Snake for MSX and never knew :)

The most hilarious part of it being that I never saw The Terminator till after I already played Metal Gear on MSX, and I remember I thought that that actor should play Snake if they ever made a movie out of Metal Gear, since he looked a lot like him! Only many years later did I find out that Konami used the Biehn picture ;)

The same happened to me in a lot of cases, and I believe that it happened to a lot of us. We eneded up watching stuff because of metal gear or other Kojima games to find out the references too.

Yeah, I bought both "Escape" films because they had a lot in common with the first two games. I still have to watch Blade Runner, though... *runs*
