I'm not surprised about the Subsistence rating ("Special Edition" games are usually frowned at in the west), but AC!D2 seems quite high. I'm guessing that the improvements they added made quite a difference.

You forgot the fifth option.

"Nobody cares about arbitrarily assigned scores given by publications."

Fanboys will always bitch on whether their favorite game didn't get the score they wanted, that they ignore the fact that a 80-90% score is actually quite good (on a scale of up to 100%). One should be more concerned about the context of the review than some made-up number.

Is that a criticism or are you pleased with the score for Subsistence? I think it's a damn fine score considering that most of the extras aren't anything extremely exciting (I'm guessing the online play must have really won them over).

I think that they really liked the additions, but they would have given it more if it hadn't been so like the original version that only came out a year earlier at the same price.

Probably because 3 discs was enough.

I'm not exactly familiar with PSM's scoring system. Do games often score higher than 90%? Perhaps they were considering other games while reviewing Subsistence -- as most reviewers would in fairly evaluating all of the game's features -- but it doesn't seem to have made too great an impact on the overall score. What do you think would have been a more deserving score (besides the obvious 100%)?

Either am I, but I think it's changed recently, as all their ratings I found on Gamerankings.com were out of ten (in which case I think they scored it quite highly). They gave Snake Eater 10/10, though, and removing points for Konami adding stuff is a little odd.

The PSM scoreing system reaches from 1%-100%, the games that get´s 90% and over are very good, the games that get´s between 90% and 69% are both good or wourth looking at, the games that scores below 69% are´nt worth your while

I would assume their complaint isn't with any of the game's additions, but the fact that it's been over a year since the game was released, and there isn't a great difference between this re-release and the original title. Some of the extras are nice and the improved camera is a welcome addition, but they aren't exactly worth another $50 unless you're a die-hard fan (especially if you're one of the many who can't even take advantage of the online play).

15? That sounds really low.

15?! That can't be right! 150 sounds more true, even if it's a really small number too.

I know a few friends with the XBox version of Substance. I think it would have sold a few thousand, at very least (Rez only sold 4000 copies in the UK and was considered a marketing disaster).

I've never seen a XBox Classics version, but I can trust Gamespot.

We never got a re-release of the game in America. The Xbox and PS2 versions were pretty hard to find over here... the PS2 version is actually pretty expensive in used games stores compared to the Xbox version, which usually goes for downwards of $12... the non-Substance version for PS2 is, on average, $5 or less, and the Substance version can be anywhere from $25-40. I'm pretty sure it sold more than 15 copies, though. I've got it on Xbox, myself (almost had to buy a 2nd copy because I let a friend borrow it and he lost it but later found it in his room while he was cleaning).
