Hi there to all Snatcher Fans!
I was looking as usually at gamefront.de (im from germany) and  !
Snatcher Trademark was renewed by Konami on 13.12.05.
So, what do you think?

The US patent office says it was renewed 10/27/05.

Perhaps they first renewed the US patent in October, and then the European patent later in December.
Not very surprising…businesses are like pack-rats…they want to keep all of their stuff even if they don't seem to need or use it.

You can also see that Policenauts was never trademarked outside Japan.

No need for it to be…so far.

I prefer the pack-rat style - Keep your franchises close!
By the way, I've got a question about that symbol in Metal Gear's avatar. (The vertical "fish.") What is it? What does it symbolize? I'm guessing it's a simple "continue" symbol, thinking about its use in the game, but I figured I'd at least inquire first.

That's the Neo Kobe City logo.

That is the Official symbol of Neo Kobe City, (the city Snatcher takes place in).

I meant in regard to the rumors of a localization all those years ago. You'd think they'd have trademarked it if they were that far along with it.

I think it's just so he can use MGmkII in MGS4, and the like. It mean a re-release in a retro compilation, though (that would be nice of them).
I'm really hoping for a Suda 51/Kojima collaboration making a new Snatcher game, though. They're both friends, now, and Suda really liked and respects Snatcher, so I think he'd know how do another game in the series. I think that if you remade Snatcher with the killer7 engine, you'd automatically have a great game, right there.

Snatcher coming to a handheld?
February 19th, 2006
Filed under: Nintendo DS, PSP, News, Konami, Japan, USA, Rumors
Apparently Hideo Kojima hasn’t given up on the Snatcher series. He recently renewed the patent for Snatcher and Racketboy is speculating that it’s possible that the DS or PSP could be the platform for a revival. It may not be far from the truth since Myst is coming to the PSP and we have graphical adventures like Phoenix Wright on the DS. However, as of now this is just a rumor and a large one that Snatcher is even coming back. It’s equally likely that the patent was renewed just in case Konami wanted to work on Snatcher in the future, not because a game is in the works.
From siliconera.com.
Totally speculation I guess, but that'd be damn nice.

Maybe the universally positive reaction to the rumors will get Kojima to make another one? We'll probably have to wait for boktai 3 and MGS:Digital Comic to come first, though. There's always his Revolution game, too, but personally I feel that's the most likely system for a new Snatcher game.

I suppose Snatcher could possibly be included or unlockable in MGS4 for all of the millions of people who will play it and not know the origins of MG-MK2

Well, if you think about it, surely MetalGear Mk.II's origins are in MGS4? Snatcher didn't happen before that. Besides, I doubt they'll include Policenauts for those who don't know about Meryl's first appearence. I think a "Hideo Kojima Collection" is more likely (it could include Penguin Adventure, Snatcher, SD Snatcher and Policenauts).

I think a rerelease is more likely than a new title. He said in a recent interview in Edge (after TGS):
The small robot in the video comes from Snatcher - does this mean you're reviving that, too?
K: Oh, no, please! I have so many original projects to do.
