Ripping Sound...help.

Hey all,

I've previously used the PCM - WAV software to take all of the speach from the MCD Snatcher. But I'm now wanting to strip the speech/sound from a Japanses version of Snacher - either the PSX, Saturn or PC-Engine version. Can anyone help me out?

If anyone can point me to the right software and give any direction, that would be cool.

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, the only way you'll get anything from the Saturn version is through a line-in recording. I don't think any ripping program has been created for Saturn yet.

Hmm... Thanks.

Any ideas about the PCE version? Or is there a Japanese script dump of a Jap version of the game?

A-ha.

Ok so I've got the dump now, which is cool. I know that the MSX version has been translated, but is there a dump of the translation?

I'd like to be able to match the line codes (0x0005 - or whatever) from the Japanese dump to a translated english dump... is this possible with the current information at junkerhq.net?

Well, the saturn version audio *might* be extractable... but I need to check into that.

For the PCE version, you need to extract the files. Emulators are able to read them, but it is not a common file system. You can try getting a BIN/CUE dump and analyzing that for starters.

Now regarding the MSX version, I don't think enough info is available. The english files that Takamichi translated are available, but the dumper used, the script used and the rest is only available through Daniel, he only released the final binary disks.

I can see that in your script dump section, you have a English translation for the MSX game - but that link takes me to a download of the English Language MSX Snatcher ROM, and not an actual dump...

I'm looking for the English translation dump that is basically like the Japanese ones, but in English - so I can cross reference the translations. Is that availible?

Is there another area I should be looking in, or have I missed the point?

They were available through Takamichi's site hosted here, at Junker HQ. But they were removed by an update he made. I might have a backup at home, but I can't guarantee that.

The url at which they were was http://junkerhq.net/SnatcherMSX2/sdown.html

EDIT:

I found the files an old backup of the files, and restored them

The only thing I know of is when I put my Saturn disc in my PC's disc drive, I can listen to a lot of the music and some sound effects through Windows Media Player. I know you can take those and using a program you can covert those files to .wav or .mp3 or whatever. I got a few tracks that way.

There's a shareware program called psxMC (I think) that I used to use a long time ago that lets you rip bitmaps, audio, and FMV from Playstation 1 games. It worked really well, but you only get a limited trial with it and after that trial's up it really doesn't work too good.

Sounds interesting. Can anyone elaborate on this? Has anyone else used the software and could recommend a crash course in using it successfully?

I used to use it often (I ripped most of the art gallery pictures from KOF '99 and some backgrounds and music from other games and such), but after the trial runs out it doesn't work so well. When I get home I'll type up a quick start FAQ or something (I'm at school right now).
