GITS 2nd GIG, Memes and MGS

I just finished watching DVD 4 of Ghost in the Shell SAC 2nd GIG, and although I haven't finished watching the series it did trigger something on me because of several reasons. The first one is quite direct, Richard Dawkins and The selfish gene were directly quoted and shown in an episode where the Tachikomas are debating. It was interesting because when I read that book it triggered the MGS2 ending analysis, for the conectiosn it had with GITS and several other things I'd seen/read.
At the moment only the GITS manga acknowledged the use of the word MEME, and MG was not linked to it at all. It was a couple of years later on in the "Vinyl" used for MGS3's single that it was officialy used and hence became an accepted fact.
The thing went on as they mentioned also the book GAIA (which I haven't read) and linked both books as having similar ideas. At the moment, it was quite clear to me how these linked. When I watched Lain, I was immeiately drawn to the Meme idea as well, but I wasn't quite sure why. It is quite more clear to me know, why I thought that. Both shown the idea of human ideas being synchronized, thought they used different means Or better said, thwy approch the same idea of information sharing anc common knowledge from different ways, but using similar concepts. And I believe that the exposition of both books in GITS is exactly that. The tendency of several Japanese stoprylines based upon those lines.
I though it is an important thing to document here and possibly discuss later on, since these ideas might be under heavy use in MGS4.. If Kojima is still puruing that line of though, after all he is a big Oshii fan, and Oshii is a big Shirow fan...
I am quite sleepy(4am), I'll revise this text later to see if something else comes to mind or if I think of something else.
