Games w/co-op story mode?
Games w/co-op story mode?
I asked this in another forum, but maybe I can get more ideas here...
I'm looking for a game my girlfriend and I could play through together. We tend to play lots of party/rhythm games (e.g. Karaoke Revolution, DDR, etc.) and I was trying to stretch her enjoyment of these videogames into other ones . Something that has a two-player co-operative mode with a good story. Preferably for Xbox (I've got the most working controllers for that), but I've got a PS2 or Gamecube at my disposal (but only one working Gamecube controller).
Suggestions?

Those sound decent, but do those go through the story? I'm looking for something between the old beat'em ups/shoot'em ups like Battletoads or Contra and Secret of Mana. Something where two people can work through the main storyline together. I'm not sure if that actually exists, but I'd like to see if it does.Osiris wrote:PS2 Half-Life has a coop mode called Decay that's pretty good.
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (Xbox) has a great coop mode as well.

Don't know if it is your cup of tea.. but Toe Jam & earl 3 for the Xbox provided me exactly what you are looking for.
Aside form taht in Xbox I'd say:
Metal Slug 3, though it is very difficult in the Xbox (Easier in PS2). If you are into these, I'd say the Contras for PS2 or ALien Hominid for the Gamecube (tehre is also a PS2 version.. but the GC is faster in laoding).
Maybe the Gun games for the Ps2.. Ninja Assault, etc.
Guitar Hero ^^
And I believe that the ebst for the situation you are in, but the most difficult to get all the hardware for: Zelda, the four swords. But you'll need two GBA, SP if possible.
Pikmin 2 can also help a lot in these, and it is a really good game.

yes.. it ins not a game to blow you away... I know. It is a gerat sequel if you like dteh original genesis release.. a very good transition, but it is not a ground beraking game. Very decent two player coop though.
And Pikmin is not at it's best in two player coop, but it is quite good.

You mentioned a good story, but you can't really go wrong with the XBox version of Taito Legends 2 (just for Bubble Sympony). There's lots of games there for both Casual and Hardcore gamers.
If you have 2 PSPs available, I think it would be really worth waiting for Gitaroo Man Lives! as there's a new co-operative mode in it. Then again, you might want to get two Guitar controllers and buy Guitar Hero 2, when it comes out.

Lego Stars Wars is a good co-op game if you're looking for something fairly easy but fun. The puzzles aren't hard and there are alot of instances where you have to work together to progress. Plus you don't have to worry about getting killed in the game so skill level isn't really a factor.

Nope, no PSPs. I've heard about GH2, though, and as someone who's played guitar for a long time, I'm really interested to see how they make playing different parts together feel.87th wrote:If you have 2 PSPs available, I think it would be really worth waiting for Gitaroo Man Lives! as there's a new co-operative mode in it. Lego Star Wars was highly reccomended at another board and it is intriguing because of the low skill level needed.
She's into the Lord of the Rings trilogy (books and movies), so I'm wondering if she'd dig a game in that setting like either of the Baldur's Gates. Never played those, though. Any thoughts on the co-op mode of those or anything similar?
