Interesting, all of them were praying that Project S is a new Snatcher game. They all loved it.

I think almost anyone who plays Snatcher will like it. It just has almost no mainstream exposure.

I think so, since the game's status is becoming, arguably less of a cult game and more along the lines of the popularity of a mainstream game, perhaps soon we will see another Snatcher game, maybe not. Either way; this is good news, games like Snatcher certainly deserve the popularity.

Sure, not a bad idea. :) There's also a Let's Finish Snatcher thread here:

By the way, do you guys think if Snatcher does get a sequel that it would be released outside Japan? I suppose it depends on what type of game it is.

Of course it will, the popularity of the game has expanded so much over time. I think Konami will recognise the popularity of Kojima now, not just the MGS games. So yeah, I think it will.

It's popular to an extent, among the hardcore, but it's still niche compared to MGS.

Yeah, course it is in comparison to MGS. I do realise that, I am just saying now that MGS4 is the last MGS game to be released, maybe Kojima wants to pay his respects to the Snatcher fans as well, despite what he said before, since he is known for being a bit of a liar and a hypocrite. :)

If I had 10 dollars for everytime kojima said he'd never do another metal gear, I could afford the Lethal Weapon box set. 44.95+tax...

Like are probably like 60 Snatcher fans in the U.S. and they all post here :P Nobody really knows Kojima's other series (besides ZOE, if you want to count it). It would TAKE a new major release of Snatcher for people to know anything the name, and even then who knows how it would sell?

I mean we got one version of the game on a platform no one had, and the Japanese at least got, what, three versions plus an RPG installment. Plus they got Policenauts, a pseudo sequel.

Depending on the platform it came out for, I bet Konami would now consider translating a NEW Snatcher.

I blame the commercial failure of Snatcher on Night Trap lol... It was just the wrong place at the wrong time. That being said, I'm not sure how the point and click interface would be recieved by console gamers in the west. It's stopped some great games from coming stateside (SNES Clock Tower for example).

I blame it partly on the marketing. I had a Sega CD back then and was a fan of that type of game, and even then I wasn't motivated enough to buy it (if only the reviews I read had been as enthusiastic as they should've been). I didn't play it until I saw it at a friend's house 2 years later.

I think adventure gaming is getting popular again, at least as a commercially viable niche.

Yeah, marketing + reviews from mainstream mags (GamePro's and EGM's) were weak. They sound like they played the game for about 15 minutes and decided it wasn't anything special.

And we all know that ad ... ugh. I had a SEGA CD too in junior high but didn't find out about what Snatcher is REALLY about until GameFan reviewed Policenauts, then I went and checked out their old Snatcher coverage.

Oooh, it's the blaming game! Lemme have a go.

Well I must say that friend of yours must have been a genius for introducing you to the game. I only just recently found the game you see (coming up to a year ago now since I first played it), so I cannot really make a judgement about why the game sold so badly ,but from what I've heard it is really down to the reviews, I sure as hell know that I used to only play games for their reviews, since the only resource for knowing how good or bad a game was reading them. Now we have the internet, it is all different.

Actually he was a stoner who had borrowed the game from another stoner friend. It was sheer luck.
