Has anyone played any 2-D PS1 titles on the PS3 yet? I hear you can upscale them to 1080p resolution. Anyone able to confirm this at all?

Completely not true...
I have only tested PS2 games, and they look like sh*t. it sends them over in 480i or 480p, depending on your settings. But as of now, the PS3 cannot scale anything to a higher resolution, only down scaling to SD is possible. Keep in mind that I am saying scaling and not deinterlacing (which is what it does from 480i to 480p).
For instance, in my 1080i/480p/480i set, it can output blu ray at 1080i (converted to i form 1080p, retaining the same amount of information for 24 fps) but it cannot display it at 720p on my cousin's tv, since it has no hardware scaling.
Good thing I bought it as a "cheap" blu ray and super audio cd player, otherwise I would be pissed from playing the games at 480p (other than the ones at 1080p, currently just the Gran Turismo HD downloadable demo)

This may be of interest if you haven't already seen it. Might've been corrected by firmware revisions though as some time has elapsed since that video was made.
Not like anyone would pick up Sony's black brick to exclusively play PS1/PS2 games though, so I guess it's not that big of an issue.
